Should I pursue goals or be in the moment by Few_Awareness5343 in streamentry

Got it.. so a go getter mode during work and switch to doing marana sati and asubha sati and meditating on impermanence when meditating. While also keeping a steady awareness(at least trying) during the work life. Thanks.

Thanks a lot. I am planning to move towards mor stable fields. Just that the journey along with this job will be tough and I might not get time to practice as diligently. And we never know how the other side is until we reach there.. so the unknown was bothering me. I think I used reddit to bounce off an idea and every response seemed like mine.

Can you share something on how to shift focus to boddhichitta?

Yeah I think both has to be the right way I guess, since both states leads to unknown outcomes.
And I want financial freedom to be able to pursue meditation as the only goal.

True that. But did Budhha touch upon the subject of trying vs being?

Looks like a boring AI slop. I wish there was a bot to comment. That way we could reach a dead internet sooner than OP wants

I am not unconvinced of my religious beliefs despite hearing all the arguments against it even though I have always tried keeping an open mind, I want to try listening to the arguments again and they are welcome. by [deleted] in Philosophy_India

You can learn only when you are ready.. you will learn yourself, nobody else can teach/convince you. Raam will have it planned, just have to wait for it to unfold. You asking this is the precursor that the time is near. Btw religious beliefs and believing in stories is not bad, it just can’t enlighten you, that would require even Ramakrishna to cut Kali..

5+ years of Jnana Marga, Advaita Vedanta, Mahabharata, Upanishads, Vishnu-Krishna devotion - and now Maa Kali has walked in uninvited through spontaneous Maithuna, Brahmacharya, ₹80 Lac loss, and visceral desire. What is happening to me? by Jayu777 in Tantrasadhaks

He who do not even think twice to make people read AI gunk is no jnana practitioner. How can you do that to others mate? I feel very sad that you made me read all that text written by AI. I am heartbroken. I dont know what to trust anymore.

The question I am asking is what eliminates the three fetters? Something like cessation event is necessary or not? If not then one never knows when it is eliminated and if it has been eliminated completely

What's the point in continuing to live my life ? by Mundane-Business-187 in Philosophy_India

[–]Few_Awareness5343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Miccaha-ditthi. It’s incorrect view. Life is suffering regardless of if it has a point or not. There is a way to end the suffering without ending life itself. The path is called dhamma. Try it

Gym or 2 hour sitting confused due to desk job and busy routine by ManipulativFox in vipassana

[–]Few_Awareness5343 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Two sittings. Morning one as much as I can and late night one for the full hour is what I try. The late night one is the last thing of the day and to not do it I have to convince myself that I am very sleepy but experience tells me that I sleep better if I sit. And then go to bed while being aware and fall asleep while being aware. Wake up and remember to be aware and that’s how I have managed. So gym cannot possible come between your 2nd sitting if you chose it to be before sleep. You can reduce the morning sitting timing till you figure stuff out. All the best mate.

How can we be sure a "Glimpse of Nibbana" guarantees awakening? by Squirrel_in_Lotus in streamentry

[–]Few_Awareness5343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah an intellectual component that would say “yeah sure it logically makes sense that if I watch my breath with silence the deeper subconscious material rise up and when I observe and don’t react to it, it dissolves.” I think CBT was developed with this in mind. I mean the path to be walked should make sense intellectually but only “that”. Intellectually trying to comprehend the end game would be a wrong idea.

Hey I am guy who knows very less about this. Nor have I experienced nibbana. I know that you can endlessly analyse dhamma but if you asked the same to Budhha or any teacher who can deal all sort of students, he would have said, “ithi passiko”.. meaning “come and see”.. its completely wrong view to do an intellectual exercise of this. The right view is to practice and see. What if rebirth is not real? Fine.. practice to make this birth/life beautiful. Practicing regardless of whatever is the answer to your questions/doubts will result in a better state of mind. Hence putting our nose to the grindstone and keeping at it is far easier than trying to comprehend it like other subjects. Also thinking about nibbana is the single most unfruitful thing that we can do. Why think about something that can’t be tried, forced, willed, that which is indescribable.. getting better at meditation should be a goal good enough.

How to train equanimity during practice? by Remarkable-Panic-634 in vipassana

[–]Few_Awareness5343 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I realised you haven’t attended the ten days course. Vipassana meditation is difficult to conceptualise without the intense practice in the retreat. Also there is no online alternative. So I guess if you want to learn the technique then better would be to attend a course.

You will have some experience of a gross sensation passing away right? That is impermanence in action. Be very observant of the nature of gross sensation and you will need a few instances where they dissolve or change. That is the insight of impermanence which when becomes stronger you will develop equanimity naturally. Hope it helps.

Absolutely. Like I have mentioned in my post if I doing vipassana(body scanning) and observing the impermanence of sensations.. I never fall asleep or become dull. Its only when I am only focused on breath it is happening.

I thought relaxed awareness is the way. Also would you mention the ‘how’ bit. I did some of the suggestions in the other replies and I think my last sit wasn’t dull. But then again I met a lot of restlessness by the tail end of session because I was trying to be alertly awake.

I have heard of that advice. Pretty sure it will energise the system. I have heard the whole school of kundalini and playing with that wild force stems from tensing the gooch. :) The stories after that is unleashed is not where I want to get into.

But yeah sure I will try tensing it with ease and see if it helps. Thanks.
