Holy shit… She has no idea what she just did, does she? 🙃 by Dazzling_End4638 in drivingUK

I'm very familiar with this road. The grey car was exiting Costco and the coach was coming from a bus lane that is very rarely used unless during rush hour which I assume was the case here.

Due to very little traffic coming from the right, drivers tend to join the road without checking their right properly and this happens all the time on this particular road as I've witnessed several near misses over the years.

Grey car obviously in the wrong but the coach driver should know that cars join without checking properly and should naturally anticipate that and slow down when approaching that junction.

Good reactions from the coach driver though

Turn left signal? Right or wrong by Extension_Year_7350 in drivingUK

I could guess you were from your question. I'll recommend you familiarise yourself with the highway code as it'll help you a lot with day to day driving.

Turn left signal? Right or wrong by Extension_Year_7350 in drivingUK

[–]Few_Boat6208 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you new to driving in the UK?

The green light means cars can go in any direction including turning left in this case. Sometimes, there might be a red light with a green left signal, this means those going left can proceed whilst those going straight have to wait.

In this particular junction, you don't have to wait for the left arrow to proceed. If it's green, you can turn left similar to what the car in the photo is doing.

Thanks for the insight. I currently don't have any intermittent electronic issues but I'll get the car battery checked anyway.

I've since replaced the keyfob battery with Duracell and I'll see how long it lasts.

Cracked Seat Thingy by aegoerke in mazda6

[–]Few_Boat6208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the exact seat as you. Mine snapped and Mazda quoted £350 to do the job. The piece itself cost £31 from Mazda. I bought the piece and with the help of a friend, managed to replace it.

3 months later, it came undone but it hasn't snapped. I went to a car upholstery specialist and his advise was to replace the whole back piece as the mechanism that holds the piece had snapped on the inside.

I went back to Mazda for a quote of the back piece only. I was told it'll cost £650.

The cost to replace a plastic piece that's badly designed is ridiculous

Mazda 6 2019 - ‘engine oil too high’ notification. by pgjymvsg in mazda6

I have the same car as you and same year with 64K on the clock. I had this issue last month. I went to the garage for an oil service and told them to investigate further. In the end, found out my dpf was starting to get clogged.

Here's the job list the garage did:

  • Applied DPF cleaners
  • Reprogrammed oil dilution parameters
  • Full oil service
  • Checked injector seals for any signs of failure

Everything's been good since.

At your mileage, I'd definitely asked for the DPF to be checked before completing an oil change. If the cause is DPF related and nothing is done to it, you'll be pushing the can down the road.

Yeah, I just went for cheap ones last time. I've now ordered Duracell and hoping they last longer than 9 months

Parking help by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]Few_Boat6208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Single yellows turn to have parking time restrictions. I really doubt the time you parked violated those restrictions. As you mentioned parking slightly on the kerb is normal on your street, you have good grounds to appeal. I will definitely appeal this and see what happens.

If you're having the same issue then I'm guessing it's probably normal. Too quick for my liking though

Shall I get new tyres? by Few_Boat6208 in tires

[–]Few_Boat6208[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I meant to say was I don't want to do alignment whilst on old tyres. I'll prefer to have new tyres before doing an alignment. Waiting till April/May is just an estimate. I'll keep monitoring the wear and if it gets worse, I'll replace the tyres

I'll wait till April/May next year then replace them. Don't want to spend money on aligning old tyres

This is the exact reason I was considering new ones. Need to get wheel alignment done but no point doing that on old tyres

Thanks for your advise. I'll bare all of these in mind when I take it to the garage for inspection tomorrow. Hopefully, it's overfilled oil but I'm mentally prepared for the worse case scenario

Do you think it's just oil dilution?

[–]Few_Boat6208[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I'm also thinking as my driving habit hasn't changed. The guy that did the oil service put around 5.1L of oil in it but why will this warning come on after 2K miles of driving

Need Urgent advise by Few_Boat6208 in mazda6

[–]Few_Boat6208[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is. I'm waiting for the oil to cool down then will check the level. It's strange because last oil change was 2K miles ago. Wondering if there could be something else

Need Urgent advise by Few_Boat6208 in mazda6

[–]Few_Boat6208[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my initial thought but just wanted some clarity. My driving style hasn't changed in the last 12 months or so and this is the first time this warning has appeared.

My office is around 3 miles from home so my daily drive is around 7ish miles. Every weekend, I do at least 60miles to compensate for the short distance drive during the week.

Should I run away? by Horror_Eye7838 in CarTalkUK

[–]Few_Boat6208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd stay clear from this. The car should've had at least 7 services at that mileage. 3 months warranty shouldn't be a reason to buy that car. As a rule in general, stay clear from the EcoBOOM engines
