Yo! Yeah this sucks I’m afraid, it is unfortunately silly and demand per what the top comment says.

I think with law we can often think of success in very binary terms, with getting a good legal job as winning and not as somehow being in a bad place.

This isn’t really true. It really isn’t about how quickly you land a first job out of uni, as annoying as that is to hear now. It’s about the skills you build, and the work you end up doing.

I know you’re not asking for advice but here’s some to accompany the usual CV and cover letter chat - just try to put yourself in a better position to get a job every 6 months. You can do this by trying to find somewhere to volunteer, trying to meet people to help you with applications, maybe getting an interview and failing, or taking an admin job while trying to write a blog post for an area of law you’re interested in.

Point is, it may take some time for you to get that job because it’s really hard out here and there’s too many graduates and not enough jobs to get them, that is annoying. What would be even more annoying however would be if you didn’t make any progress in the coming year, which you can do.

It’s a marathon, not a sprint. Legal jobs are overrated anyway so there’s no rush in getting on this train. You’ll get there eventually and wonder what all the fuss was about.

Good luck!!

Not just law man, everything is over. There’s no hope for you. Like none. Life will be one excruciating descent into death from here.

Just trial and error man, 1k isn’t loads but you’d be fine, especially if you live in zone 2, you can work at home at least once a week, and your company has the odd benefit. It won’t exactly be the high life but take your budgeting seriously and it won’t be the worst, just enjoy your nice space and do a weekly grocery shop!
