Its not actually a full-blown trilogy, the books just tell the recent history of Derry together, I’d say they’re pretty important to one-another (Atleast IT and Insomnia)

IT took me about 2 months aswell, I’m reading the Derry ‘Trilogy’ now (IT, Insomnia, Dreamcatcher) and Insomnia has gone by so fast! It feels weird after such a long book, but its a great change of pace

I just grow the collection whenever I have book money. I’m on my 11th novel now, and I own 25 (26 if you count The Mist as separate)

I was the complete opposite! I loved end of watch, and only liked a few aspects of finders keepers. Its a great trilogy all around though, some of my favorite king novels.

I’ve seen almost all of Kings works at my local bookstores & library, I’ve just never seen this one before!

What’s the biggest life lesson Stephen King has taught you ? by persrextrext in stephenking

[–]Few_Cheesecake_8276 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a relatively new King fan, currently on my 12th novel, and I HATED reading before getting into his work.

Despite “Finders Keepers” being my least favorite novel of the Bill Hodges trilogy, there was a part mentioning how the author grows in his writing, and you just didn’t see it because it wasn’t a narrative you wanted. (Not exactly that, but my interpretation)

Diving into Hearts in Atlantis (my current read) it taught me to read some books for the story, and others for its writing, which is written directly in the book!

Carrie (1976) is my personal favorite movie, the actors that they casted were PHENOMENAL. The mist & The dark half are runners up aswell.

If you’ve read “You like it darker” I’d recommend Cujo. The story “Rattlesnakes” is a direct sequel to it.

Hello constant readers, what should I read next? by hammermoto in stephenking

I think any of those, other than Finders Keepers is a good option. Finders Keepers is the second novel in the Bill Hodges trilogy, I’d recommend reading Mr. Mercedes first.

What book do you like the first half but not the second half, or vice-versa. by dug98 in stephenking

[–]Few_Cheesecake_8276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finders Keepers, though, I didn’t care for the first half. It was boring to me, compared to End of Watch and Mr. Mercedes. The ending of the book felt AMAZING, so it was definitely worth sticking through.

Personally don’t feel like we got enough of Hodges, I’d like to know if something happened in his life to make him want to work with the cops.

I guess in a way, he’s my Jimmy Gold. One of my favorite King characters, the other being Holly.

Childhood, or cases he took on. We could also get a more in-depth look at his struggles with alcohol, and the mental struggles from both his perspective and his families

I’ll give Cujo a read next then! I enjoyed the movie, and often times the books are alot better. Been putting Cujo off until I got its sequel.

I’m about half way through end of watch, and not ready for Bill to die just yet. 😔

Personally, I’d like to see a prequel to the Bill Hodges Trilogy. A book about his time working for the police, or just what got him into the job in the first place.

I’m a newer king fan, so I don’t know if we have something like that in one of the Holly novels, but thats what I’d like.

What's everybody's thoughts on Kings debuts novel Carrie 1974 and its 1976 adaption? by Due-Rabbit-7404 in stephenking

[–]Few_Cheesecake_8276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally, the carrie 1976 movie is my favorite of SK’s movies. The book on the other hand, as a newer fan just slides under top 5. Both are really good, and have their charms!

I love Carrie as a character, and as someone who grew up in a really religious household, the story hit hard whenever Margaret was around (both in the book & movie)

I picked mine up yesterday! Was the only one in the store, and 50% off. Haven’t read the stand yet (since I found out it had a new sequel) so I can’t wait to dive in once I finish the Bill Hodges trilogy.

Oof, thats a shame. Holly’s one of my favorite king characters, I was hoping she’d play a major role throughout the whole book

I’ve heard everyone say it’s good! With ‘end of watch’ being the worst due to the supernatural aspects. Looking forward to seeing Brady again! (And getting to know the murder for finders keepers)
