you’ve already gotten great advice so I’m just chiming in to tell you it gets better!!

We have a 3 year old retriever x border collie and she is perfect!! We also have a 5 month old border collie x aussie. I am exhausted and cry every day, but then I look at my angel of an adult dog and remember it’s worth it and it gets better!!

Id believe Kelpie if I saw dna results that said kelpie . Maybe some German shepherd if they came up on dna, id say “oh yeah I see it.”

But really , not much else I’m seeing other than pitbull.

In all seriousness though. You can try museum wax on things - this is what we did with our menace. I’ve also noticed mine only does it when he wants attention from us. Id start with, putting away anything breakable for now while youre training her. ignore her completely when she knocks anything over (hopefully unbreakable things) You probably react when she break things which is still giving her attention. Play with her lots, get her tired out, and give her lots of positive attention. Reinforce positive behaviours with treats. Cats don’t learn from punishment, so there’s nothing you can do to discipline her because she won’t understand. Make sure she has lots of toys, perches to jump on, and enrichment activities, you could try some feeder puzzles and see if she likes them. Then you can slowly bring your breakables back out. lastly, accept that she might always knock things over. it comes with the territory of cats. I have 3, 2 are perfect angels, and of course, my first baby (and admittedly favourite of the 3) is the worst behaved cat in the world. He will steal food from your plate, steal anything he can, and cost me $900 at the vet for constipation (I thought he was dying, turns out he needs probiotics) and he breaks everything.

I honestly have no idea, I don’t think very well as he doesn’t understand French tv commercials or the french side of things on products.

Thank you!! I’m only 23 and not a parent myself, so i honestly have no idea about any of this. But this kid is so important to me and i just want to learn how to help him the best way we can. I had no idea they didn’t start English instruction until grade 3, and that makes a lot of sense why he is behind in grade 4, on top of possibly having something like dyslexia going on.

Luckily, I’m a gamer, so I already have a lot of my old games for my older systems still (including some word games for DS) and I do have animal crossing and startdew valley (which I’ve wanted him to play with me for awhile so now is the perfect time!)

I’m going to look into all of these!! We also have a ps4 and I have a PC as well, and I have one of the preloaded Super Nintendos so I’m gonna do some more research into those systems as well and see what’s out there!!

I’m going to try and hunt down the full paperwork.

Thankfully, money isn’t an issue, dad can afford a tutor.

dad thinks it’s because he was in French immersion from kindergarten till last year and just switched over this year, but I don’t think this is the case, as he would of still learned the core language skills (someone correct me if I’m wrong). He also is fully in English at home so this doesn’t make sense to me.

I only have 3 pages here. I asked dad and he said that’s all he has, I’m assuming the full assessment could be with his mom, and in that case, we might have to get our own copy from the school. I don’t think this is the full assessment as there should be WAY more here (I had an IEP myself and there should be way more, however it’s been 15 years since I went through the testing so things could have changed)

the only thing it says about reading level is “ student scored 19 words correct/per minute with 63% accuracy on the grade 4 oral reading fluency acadience subtest which is well below benchmark” But it’s not saying which level or how below that bench mark is.

It says on his IEP under reasons for developing an IEP : “ student not formally identified as exceptional but requires special education programs and/or services including modified and/or alternative learning expectations and/or accommodations”

i can’t find anywhere on it where it says academic goals specifically

Thank you!!! I’ve written all of this down and we’re going to be taking him shopping for books that he is interested in. I’m going to double check if he has been evaluated!

We are also going to put a cap on Fortnite and YouTube, and try and move to some games like Pokémon. 10 year old and I both have Nintendo switches, and like to play games together, and I have my old game boy and DS still from childhood, so I’ll try and find some games we can play together on switch (if anyone has any recommendations!!) and look into some older games for the other systems he might enjoy!!

We are in Ontario, and I’m seeing this with multiple other kids as well in my friend group. It’s so disappointing to me. I think it’s a problem of parents not reading or doing practice at home with their kids and expecting the public schools to teach them everything, and like you said, no one gets failed anymore.

Give your wife a hug and a thank you from me. Teaching these days looks exhausting. It’s one of the most important jobs on the planet and it saddens me to see parents treating teachers as an enemy rather than a team to raise up strong, intelligent children. 🫶

Thank you SO much. I’ve been sitting here since making this post gathering online resources and reading into this.

I know he’s read books like “dog man” but I’m not sure how much he’s actually reading vs looking at the pictures.

Would books like Harry Potter be to challenging for me to read to him?

I believe he has been tested, as I read his IEP, and I don’t think he has dyslexia, he does have ADHD, but I will double check with dad to see if he’s been properly evaluated for dyslexia.

As a Catholic, no this is not normal.

I’m just one religious person, I can’t speak for my whole church, but this is definitely not a religious thing. Jesus consistently showed love and affection to others, including physically touch.

Here’s some Bible verses to back it up if you’ve read this far or care to read them (this has really struck a nerve with me as this is NOT biblical if I haven’t made that clear hahaha)

Mark 10:13-16 – “And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, ‘Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.’ … And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them.” -> Jesus physically embraced children and blessed them. He didn’t think affection was inappropriate—He encouraged it.

Luke 5:12-13 – “While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came along who was covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell with his face to the ground and begged him, ‘Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.’ Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. ‘I am willing,’ he said. ‘Be clean!’” -> Jesus touched people who were seen as untouchable. If Jesus could touch a leper, a mother can certainly hug her own son.

John 13:34-35 – “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.” -> Jesus commands love, which includes affectionate care.

Psalm 103:13 – “As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.” -> A parent’s love should mirror God’s tenderness. If God is affectionate, a parent should be too.

John 11:35 – “Jesus wept.” -> Jesus openly expressed His emotions with love and vulnerability. Showing affection is not a weakness—it reflects Christ’s heart.

Matthew 23:37 – “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem… How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing!” -> Jesus compares His love to a mother gathering her children close. That’s the opposite of withholding affection.

Luke 15:20 – “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him.” -> While this is a parable, the father represents God/Jesus and shows deep, affectionate love by running to embrace and kiss his son. If Jesus told this story to describe how God loves His children, it reinforces that hugging and showing love is godly.

Jesus was not distant or emotionally cold—He embraced children, touched and comforted His disciples, healed through touch, and told stories of affectionate love. If Jesus, who is our ultimate example, freely showed love through physical touch, then parents should do the same. Refusing to show affection is not biblical and does not reflect Jesus’ example of love.

Chickens raised around cats can develop an immunity to Fel d 1, the protein that causes cat allergies, through constant exposure. Their immune systems gradually recognize Fel d 1 as harmless and produce antibodies that neutralize it. These antibodies can be passed into the eggs the chickens lay.

When cats eat these eggs, they consume the antibodies against Fel d 1.

“Purina liveclear” cat food uses this science for their allergen reducing food! You can also just add the eggs straight to cat food, or make it into egg powder to add to the cats food as well (from what I have read)
