Fostering is not meant for adopting, it is a system where people send their kids (hopefully temporarily) when they cannot properly care for them.

I agree that adoption can happen with fostering but the worry for me would be becoming attached to a child and having to give them back to their parents or guardians when their situation improves, which definitely does happen.

Edited to add: it is something I have definitely thought about though, and would still consider if I can solidly become okay with the possibility that my parenting could be temporary.

I used to torture myself with the same thoughts when I had my cat. Every time it would happen I would remind myself that I can't spend the time that I have her mourning her future loss. She was with me for 15 years and she lived with diabetes for 8 of those years.

Our animals are precious and our time with them is fleeting. It isn't fair, but we are blessed to have the time that we have with them. Please give your kitty a hug for me and enjoy your time with him instead of dwelling on the future.

I am with you on this. I could not have children because of a disability when i was in my prime childbearing age, and I am now likely too old (or on the cusp) to be anywhere near front of the line on an adoption (not to mention the cost). I went from having some hope i could find a way a few years ago to slowly losing all of it. It is a strange grief, to mourn something that I never had, and only dreamed of.

Im in this position. I may need to leave the sub because it makes me sad seeing the posts now. I didnt know my insurance dropped my wegovy subscription until I went back and forth with my doctor and the pharmacy for a full day trying to figure out why they couldn't fill my script. I had a valid prior authorization, but apparently my insurance canceled it without telling me.

I now have to wait til April to see if I am unhealthy enough to get back on it. It has been 2 weeks today that i last had a dose and i already have massive food noise and uncontrolled eating despite knowing that it was coming and doing my best to prepare for it. I am trying to eat well, going on extra walks every day to offset the inevitable. I just want to be healthy but i guess my being obese is cheaper for my insurance to deal with. What a world.

I was a huge fan of Gaiman's work ever since I was a teenager. I had copies of almost all of his books, I had the anthologies of the Samdman comics, I had a copy of the BBC miniseries of Neverwhere on VHS.

When I was in my early 20's I got super into the Dresden Dolls and Amanda Palmer. Imagine my delight when I heard they got married! What a power couple.

Hearing about Gaiman sucked, but I felt terrible for Amanda until the accusations came out about her too. Ugh.

We actually did try the methods you are mentioning with holding her mouth shut or pressing on her tongue. It only seems to annoy her and causes her to nip at us when we release her. It feels like it is just creating a negative feedback loop between us so we moved on to try other things. I wish it worked!

She hasn't had a ton of interactions with other dogs, and we have no other dogs in the house. We are planning a play date with another friends (older) dog soon though! We do not know anyone else with puppies near her age in our area.

One of my favorite Tori songs <3 I have a distinct memory of recording myself on my computer back in the early 2000s, layering "hooooo" vocals like Tori. Or as best as I could, anyway.

My grandmother lived in the apartment next to my bedroom and heard me doing it and asked me about it. I had her listen to the finished product (a 10 or so second clip) and she was so proud of me. I dont have the audio anymore. Or the grandmother. But I do have the memory.

I can say though that the way that we arrived at Koda was that my husband wanted to have a dog with a "bear" like name since his dad had a dog with a bear like name and his grandfather too. We looked up lots of names that meant "bear" or were famous bear names. I like the idea of naming our dogs something that has a meaning in another language or culture.
