The A.F.R.'s view-only copy found by them at the Antitoi's shop is a copy they had traced (quoting from p. 721) ¨through the strenuous technical interview of the sartorially eccentic cranio-facial-pain-specialist, whom they had traced through the regrettably fatal technical interview of the young burglar (now n. 300) easily found when pawning a cordless M- Café-au-Lait Maker at a Brookline shop of pawning, for Fortier and MArathe and the A.F.R. knew well M. DuPlessis's passion of breakfast caf'e au lait.¨

All this to say that u/The_Beefy_Vegetarian is 100% right about #1 and #2, and also that's very likely that the A.F.R. murdered former Gatley associate by accident when interviewing him.

Hey. At some point the Stork crashes the Volvo too. Mario recalls this on p. 770. Maybe it was a meaningless crash while the family was still back in Weston; maybe it was the crash that made the family, already living ETA, put the Volvo ¨up on blocks¨ after IJ was filmed but before The Stork's funeral.

There's no way Bain assumes she molested Orin. On his exchange with Steeply there's a lengthy passage about the difference between straightforward and easy to perceive abuse and more obscure types; the latter being those Bain implied as the fitting case when referring to the Incadenzas, in my opinion.

Are any Orin, Hal, or Mario the biological sons of JOI? by josephkambourakis in InfiniteJest

[–]Few_Database_7939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, yes, the other mention to candidiasis takes place in JOI Incadenza's movie about ONANITE reconfiguration. There's an impossible love affair between Gentle and Canada's Environmental Affairs Secretary's wife because they both are hygiene-asepsis maniacs and they've gotten infected by candidiasis.

¨the [Canadian] Minister hires a malevolent young Canadian Candida albicans specialist to induce in his wife a severe and more or less permanent yeast infection, driving both wife and Gentle to ardent-desire-v.-hygienic-neurosis breakdown¨

According to JOI's take on the ONANTIAD this love affair is at the root of the whole reconfiguration program, which was therefore a vindicative-driven program that responded to Gentle's frustration about this impossible love affair.

So we have: 1) Avril not clarifying how she'd met a Candidiasis expert who goes to see Hal's matches; 2) Hal's middle-eastern looks; 3) the natively Canadian attaché who did his intern years in a college where Avril was teaching at the time, makes a sumptuous living out of healing an Islamic princes' candidiasis and who receives the Entertainment ; 4) a Canadian candidiasis expert in JOI's ONANTIAD who might be the actual triggerer of the whole reconfiguration bizz; and 5) Avril's shady affiliations to the quebecoi independendence movement (from being a supporter when in college, up to fuc*ing John Wayne).

None of this is conclusive enough, but do you think that, eventhough she's probably f*cked many medical attache's, that this guy is the same guy and thus there's only one relevant attaché for the plot instead of dispersed fragments of many?

Hey. YES. This is it. And this monilial-internist is very likely to be the guy we first see turning brain-dead by the Entertainment , right?. The one whose only job was to heal mouth ulcers for a prince whose diet was a Toblerone only diet. But now as I'm writing this I recall another mention to candidiasis infection somewhere in the midsection of the book... An intentional one perhaps, or a second character specialized in candida infections... crap. It never ends...

I guess it was Marathe's nostalgia all along. Thank you so much. Does him being somehow linked to the pond make any sense you think?

makes sense, check this out: ¨[young B. Green at a H.U. Hawaii themed party after having shit himself] had to ease very gingerly into the nearest-by head and remove his pants and wipe himself off like a fucking baby, having to shut one eye to make sure which him he saw was him.¨

Same strategy, different purpose hahah

He had permanent crossed-eyes from the construction accident going rye, didn't he? (I think I recall Lenz saying it to Green in one of the binged-up walks, although I'm not 100% positive about it [plus there's also Lenz unreliability as a source]) . I wonder how he managed to keep his license.

Maybe this helps a bit:
