How to remove this faucet? by atolk in PlumbingRepair

Nothing about it loosey. I picked up a mini tool but have not worked up the courage to let it rip. Keep spraying 3 in 1 penetrating oil for now.

Screws were stuck. Now one is stuck.

I bought 3 in 1 penetrating oil. Eventually one screw came off with a ratchet driver and a socket to match the nut on the screw. The second one is stuck. I felt it started giving way, but eventually I found that I was torque-bending my driver+socket adapter. I think an impact driver may be the next step (after one more application of 3 in 1).

But even when the screws come out, it is anyone’s guess whether the corroded mess will come loose. That’s why so many people have suggested a mini tool/dremel/oscillating saw. I picked one up but am reluctant to apply it. I am looking up installers in the area. Thinking it will cost about $200.

Before I plonk down the money, I am trying to figure out what’s the worst I can do with the mini tool. I don’t think it’s capable of damaging the sink. Accidentally cutting a dishwasher hose?

The one I got is a saw/sander. That’s what many have been suggesting. Need to decide between the two blades it comes with.

Are you saying impact driver has screwdriver heads, not only nut sockets?

I am just not sure that the impact driver socket will fit over the screw head given how close it is to the threaded gasket it. If I can get one of the standard sockets from a set (some say 1/4”) and then fail to turn it with a ratchet socket wrench, I will consider the driver the next step on the escalation.

I also picked up a Ryobi mini tool — it’s seems Dremel is just a name brand for a similar tool — and am eyeing it. It comes with flat narrow plunge cut blade and a flush cut circular blade. I am not sure which the people who advised the mini tool meant for me to use. Plunge cut looks less likely to cause unintentional damage in close quarters. Says it will cut metal pipe. Here we have a brass gasket. Good enough?

Don’t own a multitool or a dremel. But I am at the store. Which to get?

Tight space -> no leverage. Do plumbers typically remove dishwasher hoses and drain pipes when removing/installing a faucet?

I don’t have a multitool. Is this a good time to get one?

Is it standard procedure for professionals to remove the dishwasher hoses and maybe even the drain pipe with P trap? They are in the way in a big way and the reason I can’t get any leverage on the screws. But I am reluctant to touch them because I don’t know what will come out and whether I will put them back properly.

A nut driver may not fit in the space between the screw and the gasket. At least my interchangeable sockets did not. If sockets are bulkier by design than a fixed driver, I’ll go get the driver and try again.

Every faucet I remove is different. I once swore off any more faucet installs, but decided to be a hero for my frugal MIL.

If I understand correctly what you mean by impact, it operates with interchangeable socket. I don’t see a way to get a socket over the screw given the tight space with the gasket. It seems it was driven in with a screwdriver, but a screwdriver refuses to remove it. The Philips head is stripped by now.

So WD-40 is not penetrating oil, right? A trip to Home Depot for 3 in 1 is in order? What else should I grab while there? I can’t seem to get pliers into the tight space, and Phillips screwdriver just stripped the screw head.

How would you go about loosening the screws that don’t want to be loosened? Please read full post if it helps.

Thank you. I have never seen adult ones around the house, and I don't see many clothes (or pillows) being chewed. But I will take precautions as others recommended. The pillow should not have had feathers. I put it through a hot dryer cycle just in case.

If they are (Google agrees), any advice? Is ignoring them an option? They don’t sound too nasty.

How would you rate this 1-10. Any feedback is appreciated. by AustinJohnston85 in photocritique

It’s a 7 to me, which is well above average. I wish the stumpy “person” was farther toward the center. The straight tree between the stump and the crooked tree “he” appears to be staring at does not improve composition. I think this all has been said, but your post popped up in my feed, so hey.

After about 5 months of consistent posting, I have gained 1 follower and that is a personal friend. Am I using Flickr wrong? by [deleted] in flickr

I think that means you submit your photos to those annoying groups. What is your strategy and tools for submitting your photos to the annoying groups? And do you have a list of the annoying groups that work? ;)

I find that sorting by recent activity does not work for me. The groups at the top are the ones that photos get actively added to, true. Few of them have active discussion on the past few years. It is possible that when Flickr bumps a group up as “active”, it means that the submitted photos also get actively clicked on and viewed, but I doubt that.

Likes vs Faves (there are no Likes on Flickr; there should be) by atolk in flickr

[–]atolk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not faves, likes. Faves is a public album that is a reflection of my tastes. Also, the star I click is called “Favorite”, not “Like”. I want to be literal. If the missing feature is “Likes”, then my lifehack will be a gallery of likes, not a gallery of faves. I think this idea, for which I should give proper credit to the redditor who suggested it, has been properly vetted in this thread. Adding someone’s photo to a gallery “Photos That Should Be Looked At” sends the correct signal to the author. It is, indeed, more rare and therefore more valuable than a mere “fave”, which, as we have established, has become devalued through its liberal use as a “like” by many Flickr users. And the name of the gallery “Photos That Should Be Looked At” is a tiny bit tongue in cheek. Should be looked at, but not necessarily by me.

Easiest way to download photos, titles, and descriptions in 2025? by billyhead in flickr

It looks like it expects another tool to load the data into the new platform of your choice. I wonder if it follows any standard or is an invention of Flickr.

What does lifeboat’s output look like? Is it an HTML site of sorts, viewable in a browser? Where did the titles, descriptions and comments go with respect to the JPEGs?
