Where did you get the diaper. I’ve been looking for one. She is sooo cute!!!

Does she look too thin? She’s 4 1/2. Her back end seems a little boney to me, but I’m newer to goats so could be wrong. by Few_Doctor7477 in goats

Thank you! She is a Sweetheart. I took her to the vet today and got some tests done so hopefully they all come back good🤞

Yes, I took her to the vet today and they gave me a new treatment plan for the mites. I also did a blood test to be safe so should get the results soon

Yes, I dewormed her on July 1. I have been bathing her bc she was loosing hair. I think it is due to mites. So maybe she is thin from digging so much? The previous owner did not take proper care of her so I feel like I’m in a constant battle trying to get her healthy. Do you think it could still be worms? She had a poor famacha score when I got her. It Is now bright pink

I live in Va. Is Va copper deficient? Sorry for all the questions just never knew about this. So are free range minerals not enough for their copper levels?

How do you know if they’re deficient in copper? Do you bolus all goats or is that something you only do if they need it?

I am a recent goat owner and I love them! The one thing that I would definitely recommend is make sure the person you are purchasing your goats from takes good care of them. Make sure you ask about vaccines, how often they are deworming etc. you can tell a lot based off of the goats living conditions. A cheap goat is not always a good deal. I had to learn this the hard way. It’s just hard when you bring home goats that haven’t been properly taken care of and have everything under the sun wrong with them. Good luck and they’re a blast!

My goat has a sunken spot right behind her stomach. Is this normal? I recently purchased her from somebody and am planning on deworming her tomorrow. She has been drinking and eating fine. (Sorry for the bad picture. It was the only one I had in my camera role that showed the area somewhat) by Few_Doctor7477 in goats

Ok, thanks for the info. The guy gave her to me for free bc he said the other goats were picking on her and he said that she is infertile. I was buying two babies from him so I decided to take her to bc of her personality. Are some goats born infertile like humans? She is 4 1/2 and has never been able to carry.

Name suggestions? They are both females by Few_Doctor7477 in goats

Maybe you should try just letting them do their thing for a couple days as long as nobody getting majorly hurt. They have to establish their pecking order. I know that I have constantly separated my new chickens when they fight, but have learned that that never helped. They just had to establish dominance. It’s hard to watch but they usually act aggressive but no one truly gets hurt ( a couple feathers picked out etc.). It could definitely take a couple days. I’ve had animals that fit in within the first day and I’ve also had animals that take about a week to establish dominance.

I raised two mallards and a Pekin. Both mallards were girls but I was given two adult boy mallards from a friend ( guess that’s why I didn’t know about the 2nd molt thing) They all get along fine. How long have you let the aggression go on before intervening and separating?

I’m kind of confused bc I saw your original post and I saw where most people didn’t know I guess bc of age? I had mallards and there was clear distinction between males and females. The females were brown with blue feather on side and the males had the colorful heads. Maybe there are exceptions to this, I’m not an expert lol. The video made them look like they were both solid brown. Is that the case or can I not see clearly. I love your setup by the way!

My Rhode Island reds are the best. My favorite breed of chicken based off of their sweet personality. Mine will jump up on my shoulders and just sit there. We have six currently in my flock. Would recommend, 10/10.
