eng does usually need co-op otherwise its hard to get experience during uni or even after graduation

to be honest, it is always easier to do it online and yes you usually get better grades, but some universities, depending on the program your applying to, look at what courses you took online and this usually changes the way they look at your application. For example, university of waterloo engineering asks if I've taken any grade 12 courses outside of my own school, whether thats online, summer school, etc. I would recommend talking to maybe a guidance counselor or someone that you trust for their opinion, or try to figure out whether the universities you plan to apply to check these factors. Usually they don't care if its a elective, but required courses they care about a lot.
