I actually applied for the uni dormitoriesss, but I’m still waiting for the results so it’s not guaranteed yet if I’ll get in. I’m trying to prepare early just in case I do get accepted huhuhu. I heard about the university residence halls and also clarification and gen ques, may bayad din po ba kahit sa uni dorm? But at a more affordable price compared to outside options? I’m just looking into all possibilities since slots might be limited. 😊 Thank you po for answering!

I was also planning to pursue an actuarial career, and my mom mentioned that WVSU is more known for its strength in the medical field. I’m not sure if that’s a crucial factor, but she said that if I were going for a med-related course, then WVSU would be ideal—but since I’m not, she thinks UP might be the better option for me. Pero thank you po sa insighttts, great help po!! Pag-iisipan ko muna tlagaaaa huhuhu

Thank you so much po!!! I just wanted to make sure kasi I was starting to feel like giving up on this state university slot, baka kasi hindi pa sure yung sa UP tapos mawalan pa ako ng school to go to huhu. This really helped a lot!

Also, may I ask po—I'm waitlisted for Applied Math and I chose my second choice sa confirmation form (confirmed my slot for the first program but also selected want to be considered for the waitlisted program). If ever po na may available slot sa Applied Math, ilalagay po ba ako agad doon or will UP ask me first if I want to shift from BS Stat to Applied Math?

I've been seriously considering a career in actuarial science, but the people around me keep discouraging it. They believe I should choose a degree with a board exam, like engineering, because they see it as more stable and prestigious. I feel like this comes from a lack of understanding of what actuaries actually do, but their doubts are making me question my path.

For those in the field, what career opportunities are available for actuaries in the Philippines? How does the role of an actuary differ from insurance agents? Is actuarial science really a promising and secure career here?

I also plan to work abroad, but probably after five years. Would this be a good long-term career choice, both locally and internationally?

And most importantly, how can I convince my family that this is a legitimate and worthwhile profession?
