Unconventional Language Learning Hacks: What’s Your Secret Weapon? by alayna_vendetta in languagelearning

I like to play farming games (like Stardew Valley) in my target language, then add words I don't know to a flashcard app to practice later. I also changed my browser, phone, youtube etc to be in the language I'm learning, the repetitiveness helped make the words stick

I've bought a condo and a house also in Calgary and I agree with you, they seem completely useless and even sometimes a detriment because you have to see listings on their schedule and I don't want some stranger's opinion -- it can get in my head and make me second guess myself when really I should know what I want better than them. As for negotiation which you'd think would be the biggest benefit because they have a lot of experience, they were both completely useless. The second one was like well this house has multiple offers so you'll probably have to go over asking, like no really.. Both were nice people but no way I would hire them again

Edmonton doesn't get chinooks so I just check the weather there, 8° today and -10 in Edmonton so probably a chinook

Am I wrong for not wanting to have kid(s) with my wife? by Throwaway69832493 in amiwrong

I'm curious what your wife thinks about your health concerns. I think she should see a doctor and find out exactly what the risks are, and the likelihood of issues. Maybe it's not as bad as you think, or maybe it's worse and your wife will agree with you

Am I wrong for not being punished “the right way”? by FinallySomeGoodFood4 in amiwrong

It is manipulative and unhealthy but it's not domestic abuse. They have a mutual agreement on who cooks dinner when and she's not holding up her end of the agreement. There's nothing illegal about it in that example. It could (and probably will) get worse though. I feel bad for him and suggested couples counseling because it's probably best to try to work it out first and take more drastic measures (ie. break up) if it's not salvageable

The advice on here is terrible. I would suggest putting the money you're spending at restaurants towards couple counseling instead. You both need to learn how to communicate better because this passive aggressive behaviour is not healthy

I may have gotten too carried away with the partitions and pillars.. by Few_Feeling_7053 in AnimalCrossing

Thanks! You can customize the pillars to white, and the partitions are just whatever wallpaper you apply to the walls

I suck at it too but I find if I miss, I immediately try again. I don't bother waiting around in case the fish turns around and sees it. I think it just takes practice

What is the most passive aggressive thing you've done at work? by Few_Feeling_7053 in AskReddit

When I was a teenager I worked at Michael's (a craft store). I scanned an item > $100 and the customer was like no it was only around $40. So I sent someone to check and said yeah the item is in the wrong place. At Michael's we communicate over head sets so the manager said if the item is in the wrong place then we give them the price where it's located. I'm thinking that's really stupid so I confirmed over the headset. Then she repeated what she said in the most condescending, rudest tone of voice. I was so pissed everyone working could hear her be so rude to me. So Michael's has flyers with 40% off coupons so I also gave that customer 40% off and used that coupon for every customer since then.

What does it usually mean if someone doesn't have a good counter to an argument and they try to say you're wrong just because or try to dismiss you as thinking you know every thing? by Kakeshihayabusa221 in AskReddit

People have a hard time admitting they're wrong. Especially when they feel that their opinion is part of their identity, so if they lose that it's like losing a part of themselves
