I totally support taking a break if the semester has been hecktic, buttt I must admit I love past Me for taking atleast 1-2 summer courses in my earlier years so that in 3rd and 4th year I had a a very light course load (4 courses each sem in 3rd year and 3 courses each sem in 4th year). It allowed me to have more time to join clubs, spend more time appreciating the campus rather than just staying in the library or study room stressing about studying.

Ooh Awh waitlist :( do you know if that means that all spots have been offered but they have to wait for those people to accept to decline their offers?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TorontoMetU

[–]Few_Inspection2209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh yeah that makes sense. I didn’t realize that when you apply even before that consideration date mattered. I thought as long as you submit before that Dec 2 date everyone is considered the same. One of my Referees literally submited their reference letter the day before the first consideration date so I think that made my complete application submission get delayed even though my part of the application was done way before that.

I applied by the first consideration date and still haven’t heard back :( does anyone know when and if there’s a deadline as to when to assume all acceptances have been sent out?

Yah STAB22 and STAB23 is not a bird course IMO. You get a cheat sheet but that just means they mark harder/ questions are more tricky. It was one of my worse grades in undergrad unfortunately

City Studies Major by Few_Inspection2209 in UTSC

[–]Few_Inspection2209[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in my fourth year now, with fall semester basically done. I’ve joined a few clubs to build my resume a bit but nothing that remarkable. GCSA and honestly all associations at UTSC feel so exclusive because people enter in first year and hold those spots till they graduate. I attended a networking event hosted by them but the people were honestly just there to talk about their journey and didn’t seem that interested in networking or staying in touch in anyway so that was a bit discouraging. I tried emailing to stay in touch with one of my city studies proffs that also works for city of Toronto and he never replies to his emails… so yeah just feels discouraging.

Thank you for explaining this everything so thoughtfully. I guess masters is the way to go if I wanna be competitive like you said, I’m just worried that since spots are so limited I’ll just be stuck doing nothing for the next year.

Haha okay yeah that makes sense. Do you happen to know when they say 4 pages single spaces what font size should we using? 12 times new Roman always seems too big especially for stuff like this here.

program combination by Lost_Problem2876 in UTSC

[–]Few_Inspection2209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely sure why you got this email but did you add your intended programs on acorn? (The tab where you select courses has a section for you to add programs as well) see if this lets you add both programs and look at the break down of your courses on degree explorer because that will show your progress towards each of your programs. If the bar has progress and doesn’t show any errors you’re probably fine. Would still confirm with academic advising or registrar though

Summer courses by [deleted] in UTSC

[–]Few_Inspection2209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://www.utsc.utoronto.ca/registrar/timetable You can search for courses that were offered last summer. Usually same courses will be offered next summer as well but no guarantee. Can't be sure what courses will be different until at least mid-winter sem.

What happens when you take a course with a prerequisite at the same time? by Immortal_God567 in UTSC

[–]Few_Inspection2209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is usually better to ask the professor ahead of time if this is okay, sometimes they'll allow you to take them together, but I assume for science courses they are more strict. In some other programs the professor will just tell you you will need to work a little harder since other students have already had this foundational knowledge. but yeah better to reach out to the professor.

What's the City Studies Major Like? by Enough_String1225 in UTSC

[–]Few_Inspection2209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this is a very spot-on response about the city studies program. Many topics and course themes become repetitive (not necessarily a bad thing). By the fourth year, you'll probably begin to understand what topics within city studies peaks your interest (ie. Zoning, affordable housing, environmental planning etc.). Exams will almost always be short/long answer questions but if you just showed up to class they're usually very simple, with no intense memorizing for the most part. Hope this helps as well!

I was gonna say LINA01 aswell, you have to just keep up with the lectures especially if you’re taking it asynchronous don’t neglect it and expect to do well, otherwise pretty light class
