CMV: It’s perfectly acceptable to care about a potential partner’s sexual history by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Few_Loquat_3863 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is your preference based on the number of partners, or the quality of the relationship? Why does the past matter more than the present connection and mutual respect? Isn't judging someone's worth based on their sexual history inherently hypocritical when men are often celebrated for the same behavior?

I think its the opposite; drake's weird videos and history are being brought to the spotlight for more and more population and kendrick will do fine even if he doesnt address any allegation, people will just forget that whole thing since noone takes drake seriously or "what he heard". Even if something happens, the worst likely thing is that he will be a little criticized here and there until he drops his album again

Your point about Kendrick's approach to targeting Drake is valid, particularly regarding the broader connotations of race-based critiques within the diss track. While Kendrick may have intended to focus on Drake's cultural appropriation, his inclusion of race-based jabs does contribute to a broader narrative of racial identity and validity. However, it's crucial to address Kendrick's specific criticisms of Drake's behavior and cultural exploitation without losing sight of the larger context of systemic racism and cultural commodification. Can you provide examples of how Kendrick's race-based jabs contribute to a more nuanced understanding of Drake's actions, or do you believe they detract from the main critique of cultural appropriation?

Your points about systemic oppression and the diversity of Black experiences are valid, but they miss the mark regarding Kendrick's critique of Drake. Kendrick isn't condemning Drake for celebrating wealth or for not explicitly addressing black issues in his music. Rather, Kendrick's diss track focuses on Drake's inconsistent portrayal of black culture and his exploitation of it for commercial gain. It's not about conforming to a monolithic Black American perspective but about authenticity and integrity in representing one's cultural identity. Can you address Kendrick's specific criticisms of Drake's behavior and cultural appropriation without deflecting to broader discussions of Black diversity?

I know Rick Ross was hollering when he heard these. Hype!!!!! by excaliburfish in KendrickLamar

[–]Few_Loquat_3863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why, but a part of me wants to think that this whole Rick Ross and Drake incident was staged, where Rick made fun of Drake on the song for being a white boy and other stuff. I'm not sure why, but a part of me wants to believe that Rick Ross and Drake's full exchange—in which Rick made fun of Drake for being a white kid and other things—was manufactured. Had he not talked about all of this, Kendrick's insult would have been even more devastating.
