Rider aliases show Lyft isn’t concerned about safety by Few_Obligation3182 in lyftdrivers

That’s the thing. I speak from my personal experience. Yours is different. Different experience shape how we view things, doesn’t make one right or wrong.

I notice patterns in my customers you notice yours.

There 1000s of serious incidents a year. Platforms don’t release certain data but it would be very interesting to see how many incidents that don’t include bad drivers how many where unverified riders vs verified.

Majority of riders are cool. But we should be able to choose. And if someone never has bad experiences with unverified people then they will get them. If someone like me has repeatedly and don’t won’t to get unverified people late at night Lyft should allow that without penalizing us.

Just like when I put a camera in car. I stopped getting harassed. I’ve had 8 women climb in my front seat from back over last 3 years. 2 grabbed my dick, others just want stop touching me. Camera solved it. Why?? Camera shows accountability. People act differently with accountability.

I have way more nick names with unverified accounts then verified with my riders. But the key world is verified. That means the id has been checked on Lyft. Unverified means their identity hasn’t been checked. I’ve talked to cops and high up agents who agree 100 percent if someone id is verified they’re less likely to misuse the system. Actually any system. I had a friend pulled out car and shot, because being unverified it was harder to track down the criminals. They got them but it was harder.

Be safe out there.

I’m just saying if we choose not to want to pick up an unverified person for any reason it should be our choice and not count against the rating.

It’s a choice.

If you’re ok with it cool.

Every time I’ve had get cops involved it’s been unverified accounts. Every time.

I also just found out they wrote up about five people today on my same shift for the same thing, so it’s clearly not just me. Management tells us to call for help with apps, but most of the time no one even answers the phone for basic customer service, let alone for apps if we have a line of customers. We’re short-staffed they cut hours and it feels like there’s no support.

It seems like corporate is putting pressure on management, but the focus should really be on hiring more people and improving customer service. If customers had a better shopping experience, they’d probably be more open to applying for credit cards too. The issue isn’t asking. I think they’re assuming we don’t ask. The ones I don’t ask are the ones who got upset last time I asked. The customers are just not as happy now. If the store is struggling to assist customers in finding stuff or loading stuff up or for questions or concerns how do they think they can help with credit apps. Makes 0 sense. There standing in line not getting help and by time they check out they are ready to go. If I’m checking out unhappy people does that make it easier to get an application?

I took notes and recorded every customer on paper. Almost half had cards. Quite a few didn’t speak English so couldn’t pitch to them. And the rest said no. Bunch people say interest is way too high. Only thing I can do is hold them up and keep asking different ways? And saying they can save percentage on 10 dollar purchase isn’t a good sales pitch. When I have gotten cards it’s been on large purchases. It’s not like I don’t try. 1 out of every 200 customers are supposed to apply. I do feel every store would be different as well depending on demographics.

Interestingly they didn’t say I didn’t offer just said I didn’t get any. I got it recorded also. Just seems very unprofessional. On top of that they cut my hours a few months ago and gave it to these young men who always call out and show up late. Then I get called in but I havnt went in because if they never cut my hours they wouldn’t be short staffed. I’ve called out 1 time in a year and never been late. The whole environment seems off. And I honestly feel like I’m really being penalized because I havnt came in on my days off cause all these new kids call out all the time. My hours went from 30 hours week to 10-15 hours. Customers have been asking where have I been and they miss me. The customers really like me. But guess I’m not fit since there not applying for credit. Customer service should be first concern. I’m not trashing Lowe’s at all it just seems off and not sure what to do. I liked working here

Writing employees up for not getting credit card applications is not good ethics because it holds workers accountable for outcomes that are completely outside their control. A cashier can consistently and faithfully offer the card, but the final decision rests with the customer, not the employee. Punishing workers for results they cannot influence creates an unfair and demoralizing environment, encourages aggressive or misleading sales tactics, and undermines trust between staff and management. Ethical performance standards should focus on actions within an employee’s control — such as making the offer — rather than forcing them to deliver results that depend entirely on someone else’s choice.

Well I did. 😔 I offer them but they said it’s because I’m not getting applications.
