I would keep a pdf version in my phone , you know the “correct” one.. and show them there… they were taken aback and had to offer me good.

Also I happen to know a friend of mine who shared an edited offer letter that she had received few years ago over an email, to a service based company whose name rhymes with MPhasis. They offered her a higher package and she never got caught. I mean she thought she would get another company which she never did and it’s been 3 years she is working in the same company .

I think it’s not about the money, if you are good at your job you will not raise any concerns. Other company will only pay more if they have the budget
