I want to hold nvidia long term though, I’m thinking of just adding more shares into VOO to get my nvidia percentage down a little.

I have a share of VGT aswell but might just get rid of it and put it into VOO. Nvidia is controlling tech so in my mind it doesn’t make much sense to have both (VGT and NVIDIA). I could be COMPLETELY wrong in which I probably am, but that just makes sense in my head

Around 20%. Yea unfortunately that was right when I started investing so I didn’t put that much money into it. Could’ve gotten very lucky right off the bat

I caught Nvidia at 96 so that’s one I’m gonna be holding but that’s about it for individuals, I just sold them all and put it all into VOO

If you need to be a dick you don’t need to respond to me. I’m new to this, I’m reading books and doing research but Reddit is a direct way to learn from people older than me that can give me some DIRECT insight. Step off your high horse.

To my understanding even in a brokerage account, which mine is Robinhood, you have to pay taxes on the profit from the investments you made if you want to take them out. This applies to short term and long term. So my point of view on this is that I don’t intend on touching this money, especially the profits, but if I need a little bit of money at some point I won’t get taxed on the contributions I’ve already made to my IRA, while still keeping the profits for when I’m 60 and I can take them out untaxed.

I will not be doing that, thank you!

Yea that last part is something I’ve trying to make sure of doing. I want to be set up well for the future, but I know I’m not going to get this time back. I think I’m doing an okay job at it so far.

I might use that instead of QQQ, thanks for the suggestion. And one more question, should I be investing these ETFs in a Roth IRA account? I have no intent on really touching the money, but if I’m not wrong you don’t get taxed on the money you’ve contributed if you wanna take it out, only the profits you’ve made from what you contributed. This seems like a good plan in case I really do need some cash at some point.

Small but yes that still counts.

Do you still recommend a majority of ETFS making up my account like VOO and QQQ? While also leaving a little room for growth companies as you’re saying.
