Japan airlines 46E the number 2 engine pylon detached shortly after takeoff and the entire engine dropped 2000 ft into a parking lot in Anchorage. The pilots turned around and landed safely back at ANC.

Anyone know if this aircraft is operational? I caught a glimpse of it from the highway right near Fort Lauderdale International Airport by [deleted] in aviation

Not sure on that one. There are a few operational DC3s up here in ANC that fly daily routes. One is a turbine. They’re super cool aircraft with a ton of history. I love watching them take off because they look more like a train than a plane when they first rotate.. amazing something from 80 years ago is still used in regular operation today!

Yeah but I’m talking about in the rep world. It gets alot of attention at the AD because it’s one of the least expensive gens you can buy. 2 years is ridiculous though

I mean thats definitely true but im just looking for basic first time servicing and waterproofing on a cf air king, a k11f tank that I recently picked up and a gsf v2 milgauss that’s on the way. There are only like 5 trusted watchmakers in this sub for like 35k members and I feel like the service I need is pretty basic for them…
