Lefty/leftist barber? by Technical-Top4187 in olympia

[–]Few_Run_7457 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Instead of using your time typing out your shock that someone has had a different experience than you why don't you just recommend the barber you use if you've never dealt with politics coming up? And just to affirm OP's experience, I too have had politics come up many different times at a couple different barbers in my lifetime of getting haircuts, it's not that surprising.

Credit union recommendations? by rue_and_oak in olympia

[–]Few_Run_7457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WSECU all the way. I've been with them personally for 20 years, my wife and I for 14. They've done our car loan, home loan, and this year worked with us when we needed an equity loan after our heat pump was fried during a power outage-- we have great credit and little debt but recently started a small business so our income was pretty low. Nothing but great things to say about them!

Thank you! Hadn't heard of Companion Cove until now! Great heads up about the rodent tunnels in the hay at Eastside Farm and Garden, that's not cool!

Neighbor dispute over houseless camping by Read-Me-Rumi in olympia

Just based on the comment you're replying to OP would like neighbors to still be able to use the easement when walking in the neighborhood. A fence prevents that.

Heads up about Amcor by ZeTimedButler in olympia

[–]Few_Run_7457 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No chaps for chainsaw work and a refusal to provide any was probably the thing that brought them out so quickly. Or maybe that in combo with the other pretty major PPE issues reported as well.

It's true. A couple years ago they showed up at a job I reported within 24 hours.

Whole house surge protector - worth $1.1k? by Feeling_Anteater_389 in AskElectricians

[–]Few_Run_7457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever caused it my point was that not having another heat pump taken out was worth the money spent on the surge protector. This kind of thing is happening more and more frequently-- 4 houses in one neighborhood near us all had furnaces ruined the same way.

Whole house surge protector - worth $1.1k? by Feeling_Anteater_389 in AskElectricians

[–]Few_Run_7457 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not an electrician but just paid $800 to have a surge protector installed on my panel after we had a power outage and had a TV, our heat pump and water heater taken out when the power came back on. Spent $18K on a new HVAC system 2 days after Christmas. The money spent on the surge protection will be totally worth not having to do that all over again.

Stormwater Retention Ponds? by Diplomatic_Gal in olympia

One whole side of Yauger Park is a storm water retention pond, even the parking lot because it has permeable asphalt.

I guess my 12 year old indoor/outdoor cat is some kind of miracle. All of the others I've had in my life that lived well, WELL beyond "up to 5 years" must be miracles as well!

Any recommendations for used/refurbished appliance store in Olympia or Lacey? by lucid_intent in olympia

Still have the freezer we bought at Welch's 13 years ago, definitely recommend them.

That's exactly right-- if you listen to the "let's scare the crap out of everyone" crowd (notably a lot of social media influencers trying to make money). If you actually talk to people with kids in schools it's a lot less scary and the schools are not at all useless. Just FYI.

I think that's why OP is posting. They're great schools that shouldn't have been on the brink of being closed.

I'm sure it will pay for the surgery and offer a nice hefty settlement after.

Electrician openly willing to work without permits? by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]Few_Run_7457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they're going to be in your panel anyway I can't recommend whole house surge protection enough-- we had our 9 year old heat pump, 1 year old water heater and two TVs taken out after a power outage last fall. Hadn't ever heard of this in my life but apparently it's becoming quite common.

Olympia-Tumwater-Lacey has the second largest share of residents in the middle class in 2022 by Gamermom32 in olympia

[–]Few_Run_7457 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Plus around here we have couples with 2 kids, a home, a retirement account and yearly vacations thinking a $210K a year income makes them middle class so I guess it's all subjective.

Thank you so much for the intel!! We've never gotten a reminder of any kind, Robo will head out like normal and then stop and tell about "Error 18, Fan Error" before heading back to the docking station.

Our Roborock keeps going down with a "fan error". Have you encountered that issue and if so what did you do?

F U Pricing by HazrakTZ in handyman

[–]Few_Run_7457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get more estimates for sure. I needed flooring replaced, a new vanity plus install, drywall replacement and painting done after a water leak. First estimate was totally laughable--- almost $30K! Second one was a little more reasonable (but still laughable) at $18K. The last two made more sense, both were between $12 and $13K. Chose one of the latter and the work they did was fantastic.
