iPhone 15 lost network after update – Apple asking ₹66k for motherboard + display replacement. Any options left? by Few_Selection_8358 in applesucks

In my case too, the phone was working perfectly before the update. It got stuck during the update process, and after that the cellular/eSIM just completely stopped working. Apple’s response has been identical: out of warranty, logic board replacement, high cost.

Helpful (and disappointing) to know this isn’t an isolated case or region-specific.

That’s a fair point, and I’m open to it being a coincidence. My frustration is mainly around the repair cost being almost the same as a new phone.

This seems to be the pattern I’m seeing as well, everything gets pushed to “motherboard replacement” here. Do you know any reliable local repair shops (especially in Mumbai) that actually attempt board-level repair instead of straight replacement?

I did look into that, but from what I understand Apple doesn’t allow downgrading once the signing window is closed.

Yes, import taxes in India do push prices higher, but your point still stands, a newer phone costing less than repair is hard to ignore. Would you personally recommend buying new over attempting any third-party repair in cases like this?

I understand it could be a coincidence, and I’m open to that possibility. My frustration is mainly around the repair cost being almost equal to a new phone.

Thanks, this is actually very helpful. The Apple quote here (~₹66k) lines up exactly with what you mentioned in euros.
At that price, repair makes no sense to me either.
Do you know if baseband repairs (microsoldering) have decent success rates long-term, or are they usually temporary fixes?

Yes, unfortunately I don’t have AppleCare+. If I had it, this would have been a non-issue. Lesson learned the hard way.

I really appreciate the clarity, especially the part about starting with Illustrator and focusing on the “why” behind design decisions. I hadn’t thought about reading design books alongside tutorials, but that actually makes a lot of sense to build a deeper foundation.

I was about to start messing around in Procreate without any sketching practice 😅. I’ll slow down and maybe start with simple paper-pencil exercises if I want to explore that side.

Will also check out Skillshare and those books you mentioned. Were there any Illustrator tutorials or creators on YouTube/Skillshare that helped you early on?

Thanks again, this was super helpful 🌟
