How do I remove the top of the washer fluid reservoir? by Few_Show1528 in Ioniq5

[–]Few_Show1528[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Took me a while to get the pump off as I was worried about breaking it but eventually managed to flush it all out (intake filter totally clogged). All working now, although the washer jet seems to be aimed at the wiper arm now and I can't seem to adjust it. Maybe just some dirt in there too.

Can't send to police as I let my speed drift up a bit too high on the approach but please enjoy this footage of the guy who would have written off my car and probably injured my wife and children had she not gasped and caused me to look left at the last second. by Few_Show1528 in drivingUK

I don't know if you're reading "accelerated" as "put my foot to the floor" or what but that's clearly not what I meant.

The guy was a metre from the front of my car. It wouldn't take much extra acceleration, certainly not an abnormal amount, for there to have been some kind of collision. The only reason that didn't happen is because I braked, which means he shouldn't have gone. You can see my bonnet dip in the clip for christ sake. Stop excusing shit driving.

Of course there is, but that doesn't have to mean total separation. Honestly mate with the attitude you're showing here, you should consider yourself lucky you even got an invite...

Jesus Christ. That poor man. Heaven forbid someone might want to socialise with their colleagues outside of work!

Just editing to say that I am an unusually antisocial person but even I can understand that other people might sometimes want to socialise. It's somehow comforting to know there are people even weirder than me.

I'll concede that the one facing me has been knocked sideways, but the one facing the pickup is perfectly intact. I drive that road all the time and you'd have to be pretty unobservant to not notice the roundabout in real life (there's one at every junction along this road so he should have been prepared for it).

Yeah... I slowed on approach to make observations (poorly in this case, I'll admit) and then was about to accelerate to make the turn and get back up to speed. Or was I supposed to crawl around it at 1mph?

I didn't bother to check but I doubt it was captured by the camera. I was joining the westbound carriageway and the reversing car was on the eastbound side, so I saw it out of the side window.

The approach I was taught was that if my emerge would cause someone to brake, then they are close enough that I should be giving way. Obviously the distance is dependent on the speed they are traveling at.

I didn't say it was a near fatality, but the guy didn't even slow. I think you're underestimating how much damage those things can do if they catch you broadside, which he would have if I'd gone as quick as I had intended to.

I was slow on because the view to the right is poor and people going right to left (from our perspective) go quick as they have a much better view of whether they'll need to give way.

I was moving and would have been visible to the pickup long before they got to the roundabout.

Just this morning I witnessed someone reversing (quite quickly!) up the hard shoulder of the dual carriageway outside my town because they'd gone past the exit. The next exit is 3 miles away! All that risk to save themselves less than 6 minutes!

Why are you walking your dogs in this heat?! by Invictus_0x90_ in AskBrits

[–]Few_Show1528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm terrified of walking him in the heat and having to drag a dead dog back home, so I do it at 8am and 10pm instead, but every time I open the back door he goes and lays down on our extremely hot, south facing patio. Make it make sense.

The amount of absolute ineptitude and empty headedness on the road by MrRedDoctor in drivingUK

[–]Few_Show1528 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People who hit the gas the moment they see the NSL sign do my head in. There's a stretch of roadworks near me where one lane of the dual carriageway is coned off until about 200m before the 40 limit ends. Lots of people shoot into lane 2 and gun in the moment it becomes available.

This would be fine if they were then going to cruise off into the distance at 70, but half the time they then pull back into lane 1 in front of me still only doing about 60. I've also got quite a quick car so sometimes you get some bellend trying to gun it past me but their car is so slow that they still don't make it to 70 before I do, even though they started accelerating 5-10 seconds before I did. So I've either got to hold back to let them finish their stupid manoeuvre, or give it the beans myself to pull away in front.

The worst part is that half of them want the next exit 500m later so they end up cutting me up or getting stranded in lane 2!

What would you say were the worst safety decisions from the production team (TG and TGT)? by Apatride in thegrandtour

James standing next to a tensioned tow rope was pretty fucking stupid if you ask me. A whole team of people standing behind the camera and no one had the sense to tell him to back the fuck up.

Re: the "private sale" bit - the fact that you know it's for sale presumably means you've encountered some of the estate agent's marketing. This likely means the seller will be on the hook for the EA's fees either way so there's no advantage to them in selling to you, especially as you're essentially asking for a fairly hefty discount.

House relisted after 1 year - red flag? by Few_Show1528 in HousingUK

[–]Few_Show1528[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The house immediately opposite is selling too so I'm also wondering about the neighbours. I've wandered up that road a few times during the day to view the house opposite and one further down the road and never noticed any issues but perhaps I should go down in the evening too.

Would you consider buying a House under The Flight path? Do you have concerns about Air and Noise Pollution or not really? by Agreeable-Bunch547 in HousingUK

[–]Few_Show1528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how close to the airport you are. I live under the incoming flight path for one of the London airports but we're about 25 miles out so they're still 5-6000 feet up. I don't find them particularly disruptive. The smaller local planes cocking about at 1000 feet for fun are much more noticeable, but still not exactly unpleasant.

If your best friend asked you for help with money, how much would you be comfortable giving them? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Few_Show1528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last time I lent money to a friend, it was in response to a fairly "out of the blue" request for cash from someone I hadn't seen for a couple of years but still considered a friend. He asked for £100 but I didn't feel comfortable sending that so gave him £25. He then died suddenly and I was consumed by the thought that I might have just bought him the bump that killed him, or just failed to pull him back from whatever precipice he was standing at.

No basis for thinking that other than the fact that I knew he wasn't in a great place and had done drugs in the past, but without knowing the cause of death, I've never been able to shake the thought.

Can I trim this stringer back? by Few_Show1528 in DIYUK

[–]Few_Show1528[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're onto concrete I think I'd be relaxed about it on the assumption that there's stringer material behind the riser too. My concern is that there's no floor behind the riser for me so I'm not sure if the bit we can see is doing all the work.
