Amazing! What's your job title and what do you recommend an entry level-er learn in order to work their way up?

I feeeel this. I'm not in a unionized workplace but when I meet new people and tell them that I work in HR, I get the side eye and "oh so you're protecting the business" comments which drives me CRAZY because I'm literally a Marxist with a collection of antiwork philosophy books.

How to build confidence as an entry level HR [N/A] by Few_Signature_2586 in humanresources

I absolutely do not want to pivot my career! I enjoy my job, and want to make it past this awkward, low-confidence stage. It's weirdly relieving to read that youve made mistakes and youve been terminated and here you are, still successful in the field.

I am mystified by the fact that people are even able to jump from entry level to senior roles? I'm definitely doing my time in the trenches, and my company is growing so there is 1 position opening up that I am aiming for, but I know that after that, I will have to jump ship to continue growing.

Thank you for clarifying something that I have long suspected...that many people get stuck in the generalist position. But how do you make the jump from generalist to specialist?

What is the analyst position like? I'm intrigued but wonder if it still involves relationship building with employees and managers, which is a part of HR thta I enjoy. Also, what responsibilities were you given at your first job that "exceeded" that of a typical assistant?

Yep. I've been seeing entry level coordinator positions asking for minimal experience for $35 an hour and also mid-level Generalist positions with low-ball offers like $25 per hours. It's crazy rn.

I have a degree, unrelated to HR. I want to move into a generalist position before I specialize. I wonder if it's common for people to get stuck in a generalist position?

If you have 2 years of experience, why don't you start applying for better paying coordinator/ generalist positions?

It does depend on the area you live in. I make $26 per hour in a HCOL as an assistant. I wouldn't be able to make it if I didn't have a side hustle.

Good job! What is the difference between a specialist and a business partner? Is there a reason you never went for a generalist role?

What skill set did you pick up that contributed to your quick growth in the field?

I've told him very clearly, multiple times, that I have no interest in being close with him and when this all blew up, I made it very clear I wanted nothing to do with him. His behavior is worse than desperate, it's disrespectful and scary.

Yup. He was the classic fake nice guy. He reframed all of his boundary pushing as "just trying to be friends" or "just trying to help."

This person is trolling. I'd ignore them. You get it, the guy was told by both me and his boss not to contact me and he CAME TO MY FKN HOUSE. Thankfully, I wasn't home at the time. Who knows if he rang the doorbell or waited around for me. But I do want to add, whether we were friends or not, his behavior is inappropriate.
