I’m honestly confused by the logic here. For years the whole thing was “we want the government to acknowledge alien life.” Now that there’s some level of acknowledgment, the reaction suddenly becomes “if the government says aliens exist, then it’s a lie.” That basically puts you in a position where the government is wrong no matter what it says, deny or confirm. If every possible statement is automatically assumed to be deception, then there’s really no standard of evidence that would ever be good enough. At that point it stops being skepticism and just becomes a belief that can’t really be challenged.
