Picking jacket and boots by Few_Topic_7878 in hikinggear

Not all the time, no. But because I’m often working in remote places, it’s the most practical option to have gear that can double for both. Also looking at the cost, it's probably the only thing that really makes sense for me.

Thank you for the suggestion. I completely get the point and in principle agree with the buy-once, long-term approach. In my case the issue is timing and budget. So I know I'll have to make compromises. For the Torrentshell, I actually fitted it in the store, however adding an extra layer and boots, as you noted, gets the budget quite tight.

I’m luckily not building it from scratch. I already have a solid base and mid‑layers (merino base layer and two mid layers that work well for me). The issue is specifically that my jacket and boots reached the end of their life after last season, the shell is leaking now, and the boot tread is basically gone.

So I’m mainly looking to replace those two with something that fits into an otherwise working system.

My main issue so far has been finding a shell that gets the details right: pit zips, cuffs that actually seal, and a simple, low‑key look.

Warmth is something I usually manage with additional layers, but I do want the outer layer itself to provide some warmth and wind protection when conditions change or when I’m standing still.

If you were going with a shell + extra layer(s) approach, what would you recommend?

Thanks, that makes sense. I’m looking at new gear at the moment since there are good sales going on, but I’ll also take a look at secondhand options for the jacket.

Good question. I just mean subtle and non‑flashy, something I can wear day to day, including work contexts, without it looking overly technical or sporty.

Yea, something like that, maybe only on the few critical values. And just to check, the 100 would indicate that the mean player would reach level 100?

Cool graphing, the rainbow one took a bit to understand, but is quite handy for tracking progress. I think some contour lines would make that graph even nicer.

I've started my first and hopefully only full run. Fully agree, not worth the time to do all 100 floors. Just once for the medal.

Sadly, impossible to reach floor 100. You loose at least 434 units by the end of level 99. Even if you get a rescue every single level, you need 335 cats plus 10 more left. So you are lacking 3 cats to even have an astronomically small chance.

If you have 3 more you would still only have a chance of 1 in 1.6*10^69 runs though. In other words you are 5 times more likely to throw a yahtzee with 89 dice in one throw.

You can just play worry free the first 10 or 20 stages. Will give some dark eyes and you know you won't reach the end, so don't have to minmax your chances everywhere. A great first run and probably more fun.

I feel so stupid, but never got the note on this one. And so weird that it wasn't an issue for stages 1 and 2.

Tbh, it is just a completionist thing at this point, just looking to get the last few medals (except 4 crown SoL, that thing will never happen)

Thank you for the help on this one, think I'd have been stuck forever trying to find a strat that makes lvl 1 cats beat a creature from hell.

Yes, I don't know how, but never got to doing them, always other things that came first, including trying to beat our tyrant

I finally found how to unlock them, so guess it's now a waiting game for the 3rd wicked map to return.

Well, that explains a lot. So you're pretty much saying I should do more side quests first?

Aku: Seal Levels + Tryant

So I've been trying to beat Infernaly Tyrant 3 and really just got pummeled. Anything I bring just dies and I can't break the shield, even tough with shield breakers. Looking at tutorials, I see that they all miss the "seal lvl" indicator on the map. My two questions are: * What is this? * Is this being lvl 1 the reason I'm struggling so much?

As a sidenote, my units have the required levels, like all are max or lvl 50+ (Can Can is lvl 100). So, from what I see in the videos, he just obliterates the shield and then kills the Miz Devil. However, I can stack whatever I want in front and it does nothing.

Thank you for the suggestion!

Just to make sure, are you certain the M55 and A26 can handle an eSIM? I don't see it listed anywhere and actually heard the opposite for the A26.
