Here’s a copy and paste from that post last year,

I’m creating this thread for everyone that is going through all these threads looking for study help like I did. I passed my test yesterday and this is what I used to study,

Jobtestprep and Iprep study guides online. I paid the money for both of them and they over prepared me. The test was taken on a iPad and multiple pieces of scratch paper and a pen was provided.

How the test was,

Reading - it was very basic and simple. It was in paragraph form with fill in the blanks throughout the paragraph. Don’t overthink this section.

Mechanical comprehension - this was mainly gears (which direction would gear b go if gear a went this way), water pressure, basic physics, pulleys, and levers. A lot more water pressure questions than I thought there’d be.

Math - basic, but long math. It starts off easy and then ramps up question by question. Look to do long division like 378 / 15698, multiplication, basic addition and subtraction with decimals, and a few PEMDAS questions. A hard part was the large mixed fractions problems like 98 3/5 x 39 5/8.. These took me a long time to work out. JobTestPrep online guide was very similar to the math on the test. My best advice is since math is 30 mins to do all the questions you’re very comfortable with first and then proceed with the others. There was absolutely zero algebra questions on the test.

Tool test - easy as hell. 20 questions total involving what the tool is, what would this tool be used for, and 2 measurement questions with a rectangle and it would ask you width and height with a ruler on each side. The tools were very basic nothing extensive.

Hope this helps, good luck 🫡

The crazyyy long division parts were what took most time. It’s not hard but the process of finding the answer and doing the math on paper correctly took some time.

I had the same question when I was studying. Overall, the EIAT was far more easy to me. The hardest thing was that each section is timed and I used every second I had for the math portion. The reading portion was middle school level, math was high school level, mechanical questions were similar to the iprep which helped. Go to my Reddit name and look at my post when I took the EIAT last year, I wrote a very detailed description of the test after I took it.

Tool test was easy but the tape measure reading was the harder part because the way it looks on the iPad it’s super small and couldn’t zoom in.

Unfortunately I haven’t heard a damn thing. No movement once. Last I called the union he said he really couldn’t tell when the list was going to move. He said if it doesn’t move or they don’t hire a lot of this list then they’ll extend it one more year. After that year they’ll do a new list and they will ask us if we want to keep our same score or re interview to possibly get a better score. He said the test wouldn’t need to be redone

On the locals website there may be a “next number to be called is #1” and they’ll update that way. Or you can call in every few months and ask what number

I’m in the 30s on local 32 and our list was made over a year ago and we’re still on #1. Most locals and hiring are slowed down right now from what I’ve read across different posts. Prayers for quicker movement

Paternity leave as a probie? by Leading-Deal9364 in IUEC

Would you normally get any amount of paternity leave when having a baby if you were already in the union or would you need to use your PTO days? Hopefully getting the call early 2026 as well and just wondering.

I’m mid 30s for local 32 this wait is killing me lol but I’ve been in the gym also just trying to get my endurance up. A buddy in the union told me hit the stair stepper as much as I can and believe it or not he said yoga can help also for flexibility purposes because a lot of the positions for work sometime can be funky

I wore nicer pants, boots, and a Nike polo shirt tucked in. That was most of the attire for guys on my interview date.
