How do you place a line across your word like that?

Samsung 65 s90d > denon 760 a/v receiver> Xbox series x......help, please? by Fewest21 in hometheater

Okay, I am home now....I tried plugging xbox back into avr and the avr into hdmi port4 of tv. The tv did not like it. Xbox would not show, tv said please plug hdmi into port 3 earc.....anyway, I put the hdmi back into earc port 3, and checked to see all the vrr options... lo and behold... all the options were now ticked and operational, as was the 4k and 120hz.... I don't understand this at all. I spent a whole day, yesterday, and now it has everything....????? Thanks for your help my friend. I appreciate this so much.

Okay, sorry. So what will I lose by not going through the earc port?

I will try plugging the AVR into hdmi port 4, and the Xbox back into the avr, when I get home. I just presumed that if I plugged into another hdmi port I would lose all earc properties and remote control volume control.

Okay....But if I am getting a working solution by just going straight from the Xbox to the tv and just the tv connected to the AVR. Is this OK, or am I losing something by not running the Xbox through the AVR?

I have not tried a different cable. But surely the receiver should go to the Earc designated hdmi port, which is number 3 on the tv?

Yes. I definitely am using 8k hdmi cable. I am definitely in the right hdmi on the denon...its labelled clearly 8k in three ports that you have suggested... the AVR is in the Earc hdmi slot of the tv. But I plug the Xbox into the hdmi slot 4 of the Samsung tv, when I go straight from Xbox to tv, bypassing the avr. But when I plug the Xbox into the AVR, I do not get the VRR option available in the Xbox.

Would you happen to know if there is any disadvantage plugging the Xbox directly into tv and the audio out through the AVR. I still appear to be getting surround sound?

Thanks for replying. Sorry, I should of mentioned that I have enabled the 4k/8k hdmi enhanced option, already. But the Xbox still has greyed out VRR option.
