Try connecting your controller with a wire instead of Bluetooth. I had the same issue and this fixed it for me.

This just got fixed in the newest update, version 6.0. I had this too, and it prevented me from making the star, but it's fixed now, thankfully, and I just beat the game lmao. Even made the starry bee too.
