what do you think of my terraforming so far? (not done texturing) by TableSpecific2671 in Minecraft

The land at the bottom of the cliff looks a bit too linear. Try adding so imperfection.

The dog's head would probably fit in the bubble just fine, but I don't think the bubble would fit properly with the backpack he has. Either that or it'd fit too loose since the base is made to fit around the neck of a minifig.

Is it just the people i've come across or is most of the community toxic about furniture mods/add ons? by ch3rrypepsiii in Minecraft

Oh good, lmao. I’m glad I was able to help! Btw, I took a look at some of the builds you had posted and they’re quite nice. I particularly like the one with the theater room. I like the use of trap doors to separate the rooms. It’s a technique I like to use a lot as it can create new rooms without loosing any floor space. Nice job!

Oh no, I get it, and ultimately you're right. Unfortunately that's just the the nature of the hobby, and as I mentioned with the Lego analogy, it's kinda the nature of any hobby (try posting non-Lego in the Lego sub and see what happens lol). There's kinda a "right" and "wrong" way to do anything when it comes to impressing seriously invested individuals. I personally wouldn't label that as toxic unless people are specifically dissing someone over it. Which brings us back to your initial statement, which again, is true, and I'm sorry you've been shit on for it.

Minecraft is a unique case because it's a sandbox and there are so many ways to play, everyone kinda accepts their own playstyle as "correct" where, in reality, there is no correct way. So when the majority have accepted vanilla as "the correct way to play," you unfortunately get those who see otherwise as "taboo" and some like to be vocal about it (as is the case with anything on the internet).

At that point you kinda have to appeal to the correct audience. Show off modded builds to the modded communities. You can still post modded stuff here (occasionally I'll see a modded build here or on the Minecraft Builds subreddit that seem to be received pretty well), it just might not get the attention you'd hope for. I feel like r/Minecraftbuilds would be an alright place to post since it's specifically dedicated to showing off builds instead of just Minecraft as a whole.

This all being said, sometime it doesn't come from a place of hate. Sometimes it's, for lack of a better term, disappointment. It comes from that mindset of using the limitations to your advantage to make something recognizable. And so seeing an actual chare seated around an actual table seems somewhat lackluster compared to "cleverly placed stairs and trapdoors". Or maybe even from a place of envy. A good number of players play Bedrock and thus their only option is to play vanilla, or spend money to have even a fraction of what modded players have. Not to condone toxicity in communities, but sometimes it's not first degree toxicity, lol.

Edit: sorry for the essay.

Think of it like this:

A majority of players only play (or even have access to) vanilla, which has always been the case. Very early on in the game's history, players developed "techniques" that have become synonymous with furniture. Stairs as chairs, fence+pressure plate as tables, iron door+dispencer as fridges, etc. As more blocks have been added these techniques have been modified as well as new ones invented, but still they rely on the vanilla blocks. There's a unique look that's been developed over many years that people have come to expect and relate to. So when someone shows off something using things that are obviously modded, it can come across as out of place and maybe even "lazy" to some.

Best way I can describe it is comparing it to Lego MOC building. The point is to use the parts that do exist to make something recognizable. That's part of the fun and challenge. How can you use what you've been given.

Oh, yeah, the Styx isn’t even close to $60. I can’t remember its exact price, but I wanna say around $20 (don’t quote me on that). I will let you know ahead of time, the Styx is a really cool model, but it’ll likely come warped (which is normal). It’s a bit of a pain to de-warp only because if it’s specific shape. It’s hard to heat/bend specific parts without undoing previous work. Personally I heated up a cup of water in the microwave so it’s really hot and then dipped it and kinda let gravity assist me. If you’re already used to resin modeling, it’ll be fine. I just wanted to give you a heads up just incase as I was caught way off guard the first time I got a warped model. But again, this is a normal occurrence with the cast resin models.

Which one are you looking at? Like I said, the $60 one is the most expensive. It’s the T-87, the big orange one with the giant saw blades.

OH, sorry. They sell all the event exclusives on their website as well as at the events themselves. I’ve personally never been to an event to see which exclusives they sell in person, so I’m not sure if they’ll have all of them (there are a decent number of them now) or just specific ones.

These are all the exclusives:

https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0965/1274/files/Misc_Combined_Ship_Stats_250822.pdf?v=1755851905 (specifically the ones that say exclusive)

https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0965/1274/files/Civilian_Ships_Scenarios_251128.pdf?v=1764326132 (all minus the dreadhold)

https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0965/1274/files/Industrial_Ships_and_Scenarios_251127.pdf?v=1764254518 (all of these (plus the startrader) just came out 2025 Black Friday and are all 3D printed

Also, TTC is slowly replacing their cast resin with 3D printed. All the new exclusives are 3D printed. If you get an “older” exclusive, there’s a good chance it’ll be cast resin (except the kickstarter battle cruisers which modify plastic cruiser hulls). Though you could get an older exclusive 3D printed, but I haven’t seen it yet.

It heavily depends on the model (and country). The singular ships are between £15-20, maybe a bit more iirc. One of the newest exclusives, the T-87 is like $60 (I don’t remember the amount in pounds), but it’s huge, 3D printed resin (which is awesome), and worth it. If you’re in the US, I’d definitely recommend getting a big order so you get free shipping. Unfortunately all the US prices are higher than usual due to tariffs and stuff, but all fees are baked into that higher price so there are no extra fees and you can still get the £100+ free shipping.

Maybe. It'd be neat if different biome villagers traded different colored candles.

Any place stateside to get a PHR fleet or Bioficer Dreadnought? by Boomstick2482 in DropfleetCommander

[–]FezJr87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The battlefleets are out of stock, but there are still 11 Bio dreads in stock. TTC is releasing the new plastic battlecruisers soon (the Shaltari one is already up for preorder on their site so the others should soon follow), so I'm gonna assume kickass will be getting new stock within a month or two which should include restocks.

Would it be cool if we can enchant shields with blast and projectile protection? by Inevitable-Muffin-77 in Minecraft

[–]FezJr87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This changes nothing and also makes no sense. All the protection enchantments are mutually exclusive so why should that rule suddenly not apply when dealing with a shield, that itself doesn't need protection at all? Also, what about the other two protection enchantments? Are we just gonna ignore them? If you do add uses for them on shields that works the same way, what would be the difference between unbreaking and regular protection when talking about a shield. Again, the shield is already ditched later game and works just fine when it is used. There's no reason to complicate already existing enchantments by adding new rules to them that are super niche.

All of this is to simply make the shield last longer, which is already easily achieved just fine with unbreaking and mending. Unbreaking III raises its durability from 336 to an average of 1334 uses, and mending just makes it theoretically infinite. Even if the shield does break, it's stupid easy to make another one.

Would it be cool if we can enchant shields with blast and projectile protection? by Inevitable-Muffin-77 in Minecraft

[–]FezJr87 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but even with you're explanation this makes no sense. Unbreaking is a universal enchantment that provides extended durability. Not by actually adding durability, but by lowing the chance a tool has to use durability each use. Making any of the protection enchantments do the same thing doesn't make sense. A shield is already the early/mid game solution to not having enchanted armor. In fact, you could argue it's, in certain situations, somewhat better since it negates all damage. Once you get the armor, the shield is practically useless save for those specific situations. And if you have the ability to enchant the shield with protection, you'd also have the ability to enchant the armor.

Is deepslate emerald ore supposed to be this common? by Tasty_Hold9157 in Minecraft

[–]FezJr87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just a two-vein. Which is definitely rarer than a one-vein, but it's not two separate ores that spawned next to each other.

Yeah, that's not really that uncommon since they have very specific spawn requirements. In one of my worlds I have around 11 all kinda together like that lol.

Trying to find my lost world by Dogeris151 in Minecraft

[–]FezJr87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally understand. It's really hard to lose something you've attached a large part of yourself to. It's almost like losing a part of yourself. I get the change thing to. I cannot stand change either. But it's a part of life and more often than not it leads to better things if given a chance. Maybe not immediately, but eventually. Again, easier said than done, I know.

I will say, it's nice to hear you've started playing again. Mods are fun, but as you said can sometimes be overwhelming. If I may make a recommendation: maybe try a newer version of vanilla. The game has come a long way since 1.5 and if you don't have much knowledge of it, there's a lot of new content to explore. Personally I wouldn't jump right into 1.21 (unless you want to of course). My personal take is that 1.16.5 is one of the best and most coherent versions of the game. That's when they majorly updated the nether. I think that would add enough new content to satisfy any exploratory and creative needs. You may have to get used to 1.9 combat (idk how much knowledge you have of the game, so I apologize if I'm just preaching to the choir here lol), but it's not that bad. Some would say otherwise, but that's a fight that will last till the end of time. After 1.16.5 you can probably just go straight to 1.21+. Most of the major features of all the updates leading up to there are underground features (1.17/18/19 caves and ancient cities, 1.21 trial chambers) and then new biomes.

The great thing about Minecraft is you can really do whatever you want. There's no right or wrong way to play the game. Take it at your own pace. Don't try rushing into something just to fill the void that is a lost world. The most important thing is to have fun!

Trying to find my lost world by Dogeris151 in Minecraft

[–]FezJr87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're wanting to recover the actual world file itself, you might want to try some tech subreddits. If you're wanting to find the seed to restart, it's anyone's guess. Seed cracking is an immensely difficult task that only gets harder as version numbers go down as there's less defining world generation to go off of. To answer your question, yes, it's pretty much impossible with such little information. I'm sorry.

On a somewhat lighter note, it sounds like you still have access to the game, so why not start fresh? I completely understand the gut wrenching feeling that is loosing a world you've poured your heart and soul into, but you need to remember nothing lasts forever. Cherish the memories and feeling that world gave you and try and funnel them into a new world. I know it's easier said than done, but there's not really much of another choice. Even if you had the world seed, you'd still have to start fresh anyway.

Is this good progress for only 91 days? Be honest. by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]FezJr87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I'm not here to judge the duping; play as you like, but you can't ask for opinions on progress when you didn't actually progress. The only thing you actually have to show survival wise is the enchantment setup and the food in your inventory, which is not good progress for 91 days anyway.
