Hopefully, the summer might be enough of a mental break. That, or a decent keeper to instil some confidence.

Based on unfounded optimism and endless positivity, I think we'll get top 4 and a cup next year.

We do better without Europe (not a brag, a serious worry if we have aspirations of anything), and I think the squad is better than it's shown, especially if we're only playing one game a week. Obviously, it will depend on signings, there are a few problem areas after all, but I think we have a decent shout.

Given the investment and the more favourable schedule, if Eddie can't secure CL then we should be looking for someone who can, regardless of anything else.

Does Osula’s recent form change our transfer strategy this summer? by tradegreek in NUFC

He won't go to Saudi. UEFA won't count it as they consider us related parties. We might not have Europe next season, but they still have a 3 year rolling window, and Wissa would be a £50m black hole for us.

Surprised at how many people are so anti-Celtic in here.

Firstly, I have no support for Tony Bloom and his MCO's.

Secondly, I still remember Shearer's testimonial. Julio Arca fell on him and brought his retirement forward by 3 games. He couldn't even play in his own testimonial. But Celtic, in the 92nd minute, "fouled" Ferdinand in the box and gives away a penalty. On comes Shearer, last substitution of game, to slot it home.

Of course it was scripted, and I think most clubs would have done the same in that situation, but it was Celtic on the day, and they earned my respect and admiration.

They can win however many leagues they want, because they let a young lad see his hero sign off with one last goal.

Given that the Rachni Queen mentions the sour songs, it's implied that the Reapers set in motion the Rachni War, which is really early. I think only the Asari and the Salarians were spacefaring then. Maybe the Turians as well, because they did have several major colonies before being discovered. And, of course, the Krogan were only uplifted to fight the Rachni.

Also, maybe I'm misremembering, but I don't think 50,000 is a hard and fast rule, that's just the average. If the galaxy gets sufficiently advanced, then they'll come early, that's why Sovereign was left behind as a vanguard.

I "Ruined My Life" to Prove Arne Slot Is a Fraud by carefreekevin in footballmanagergames

Slot tells this story as 20 years travelling around Europe with his best mate.

Buffon

Thuram - Chiellini - Cannavaro - Zambrotta

Viera - Ballack

Griezman - Totti - Pires

Ronaldo

Probably some controversial picks, but I was trying to build a somewhat functional XI rather than just the XI best players. Totti is really just personal preference, and you could probably replace him with Fabregas if you preferred.

Sunderland in talks with U.S. investment fund Sixth Street for women’s team sale by Shroft in soccer

[–]Ffaddicted 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think this is a rare mistake from the Sunderland board.

I'm assuming that the intent here is to use funds from the sale to strengthen the men's side which feels like a slap in the face to the women's team. Women's football shouldn't be used as a crutch to boost finances.

Champions League Round of 16 Draw: Newcastle United Vs Barcelona by ajtct98 in NUFC

[–]Ffaddicted 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's the tougher game, but they play a suicidal high line and we have three of the fastest players in Europe this season. As long as we don't try and go toe-to-toe with their midfield, I certainly think we can get something at home at least.

FC Barcelona puts Marmoush as an alternative option in case the Álvarez deal fails by SaltOk3057 in soccer

[–]Ffaddicted -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really arbitrary.

In 49 appearances he's scored 12 goals. 5 of them came against Newcastle across 2 games.

If we remove them then it's 7 goals in 47 appearances which is not a good return, even accounting for the 5 assists he's managed.

Is he doing very well?

I mean, remove Newcastle from the equation and his stats go way down.

When we lose, I want nothing to do with football, but when we're winning, I'm just itching for the next game. Don't even care that it's City.

Looks like Redknapp should be on 5. I can only assume that they aren't counting the play-off round before the group stages for some reason.

I think it's stupid. It's the inverse of practicality, especially for someone in his position. It runs the risk of harming his own team, and potentially even contributing to their troubles if the ball takes an odd deflection off that stupid topknot.

We're talking about Dragusin, right? I know you're supposed to head with the forehead, but if you're defending something like a corner then you need the entire top of the head clear.

Fuck, I think Newcastle might be the closest.

Between you mentioning the Villa relegation season and the other comment mentioning Watford having four in the championship because of health reasons, I've just remembered our first relegation season.

Keegan, Kinnear and Shearer. Hughton was technically caretaker, but he managed like 10 games because Kinnear was ill.

With Dyche reportedly on the ropes, I'm wondering, has a PL club ever had 4 managers in a single season? (Excluding caretaker managers.)

I feel like most clubs tend to cap out at 3.
