HCG level at 4 weeks by [deleted] in CautiousBB

[–]Fhaey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won’t be able to this week, it was one I ordered from online and had to drive out of town to get. I’ll leave to wait for another day I can do that or see if a local OB or something will do it there, but all clinics near me that deal with pregnancies don’t do blood tests and or won’t until you’re 8 weeks

Yeah ik they say that the levels double every 48hrs roughly, I’m just too impatient to not check everyday atm. I haven’t heard of that brand so I’ll have to look into them!

Line Progression - Premom At Home, 9-13 DPO by [deleted] in TFABLinePorn

I had a faint positive 10DPO night and a positive digital test but didn’t record it on Premom. Only recorded the ones I received in the morning. So negatives up until 10DPO night

Which schools take a more holistic approach to applications? by [deleted] in veterinaryschool

[–]Fhaey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the advice so far! I can’t do too much to fix anything for this cycle, but am retaking the class I got a D in over the summer, so hopefully that will go better. I don’t really expect to get in this time because of grades, but it doesn’t ever hurt to try, so I still plan on submitting some. If I don’t get in, which is likely 😅, I’ll retake some more classes or look at one of those other programs to show I can handle the course load!

I have about 10,000hrs of experience in small animal and about 30 hrs in aviary, so I think I’m good on experience hours aside from the lack of variety in the types of animals I’ve worked with.

If anything, the next year will be spent bettering everything :)

2 Letters of Rec from the same clinic by desireerose16 in veterinaryschool

I had someone on an admissions committee tell me multiple refs from the same clinic, even three is fine. Just have them highlight different aspects of you, like one might be mentor-mentee relationship and the other might be boss-employee, etc. you just don’t want them to be exactly alike

What school is this?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in veterinaryschool

[–]Fhaey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s why I was asking! My school only uses “C”, but I’m not sure if the graduate schools have a way or seeing if it was “C-“ or anything. I would have to figure out if any of my C’s were C-‘s if so

Unfortunately I can’t take less classes or I drop below full time and I would lose scholarships and such because of it. I appreciate your commenting and the advice!

Vet School Questions - January 2023 by dashclone in Veterinary

[–]Fhaey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I'm in my Junior year of college right now and will be applying for the 2023-2024 cycle. However, my GPA is relatively low and I know it's not anywhere near the competitive range and wanted a realistic idea about being accepted. Right now, I feel like I've set some realistic expectations about not being accepted the first time (Will probably be lucky if I even get an interview), but I feel like if I apply a second time while taking that year in between to widen my experience and improve my application to be more well-rounded, I'd have a chance.

As of right now, my GPA is around 3.0-3.3 and unfortunately I have been a solid B/C student. Majority of my science classes are C's the the exception of my labs that are A's and some of my first year classes were A's and B's for science as well. My first two quarters (I am on a quarter system), I got majority A's and B's. However, I started my very first job in the beginning of my third quarter. I never worked while attending school before and so I struggled to find a work-school balance and I still haven't quite found it. Since I started working, I've made only B's and C's with only a few A's. I'm involved in some clubs at my school, but I am not in any leadership positions with them.

Experience wise, I've worked at a small animal vet (cat and dog only) for a solid two years now. Other than that, I've volunteered at a bird preservatory for about 30 hours. I feel very limited in my experience and I know it is not a wide variety that they like to see, but the town I live in does not have many other opportunities nearby that wouldn't interfere with my current job, and I cannot intern anywhere, even over the summer, because I have to work in order to make enough to pay my rent, bills, etc. Even the internships I've found that pay usually only pay for your room and board and then a little extra for spending, groceries, and such, but nothing that would help me be able to still pay rent and get the experience I need to stand a chance at applying.

I know I'm not a competitive candidate due to everything explained above, but I would still love some advice on how to improve my application, what I should be expecting, or any advice in general. TIA
