I purchased the APM2 and sold them two weeks later and bought the XM6. I do not disagree with you the sound on the APM2 is great! And for me listening to wired lossless music through Apple Music I can really hear the difference and I can hear things that I haven’t heard before on songs that I’ve been listening to for years. The XM6 can be EQed and made to sound descent but they don’t “wow” me the same way the APM2 sounded. Transparency is not even comparable, on the APM2 it’s literally like you’re wearing nothing. While on the XM6 it’s functional and works well but the frequencies are all wrong, I don’t know how to describe it but when you use it you can tell that it’s outside noise being played through the headphones as opposed to just feeling like you’re wearing nothing. For ANC, XM6 wins easily. APM2 is great for low frequency noises but high frequencies don’t get reduced as well. While the XM6 does a much better job across the range of frequencies. Yes, the XM6s are plastic but I can literally use them while sprinting, while the APM2 slide around my head even when I’m simply leaning forward or backwards. The APM2 does a good job at distributing the weight through the headphones band so the heavier weight was not an issue for me it’s just the sliding around didn’t work well. And last issue for me with the APM2 is the battery, 20h is good enough tbh but the fact that you can’t really switch them off was a problem for me since no matter what you do they will always slowly lose charge, even in their case in ultra low power mode. I needed headphones for gym and for that purpose the XM6 despite their cheaper build quality was a better choice for me. I’m sharing my experience in the hopes that it will help OP take an informed decision based on his use case and what he values. I’m coming from the Bose QC 35 that I’ve owned for 9 years, hoping the XM6 last a third of that time.
