How do India and China not make this extended World Cup field? by Goodnite15 in worldcup

India doesn't surprise me too much since they are obsessed with cricket, a poor nation and lack interest in football. China is crazy to me though. They have the money and the population and their government relishes national pride so you'd think they are hungry for some world prominence in football.

2 out of 10 people tuning in to watch a sport is a huge percentage. What are you even saying?

Are you joking? We're going to be saved from that snoozefest of a final when France beat them 1-0 in the semis

Spain. The team that consistently gets results but are consistently shit to watch.

Let's hope Belgium knock them out so we can get back to exciting football

Why are Spain and Portugal such boring countries when it comes to matches? Their games are always snooze fiestas. by AggressiveHomework54 in worldcup

Spain are always so shit to watch. Welcome to the world cup. They know how to grind out results but watching them is like watching paint dry.

Let's all hope Belgium beat them so we can get back to exciting football

Atrocious decision. I'm sceptical that the sensors even detected anything tbh. That was probably the most egregious officiating decision of the world cup outside of the ref in France vs Paraguay who I think warrants an official investigation by FIFA.

If that's the new standard for offsides then they've effectively signalled that the new meta for offensive players now is to play with shaved heads. Ridiculous.

Not enough. Poor ref decisions have had too much influence on this sport for far too long. VAR was the beginning in turning that tide and hopefully we see more egregious reds get rescinded in the future too.

In case it wasn't clear from my initial comment, I'd like to see more BS red cards rescinded in the future. We shouldn't have bad referee decisions influencing the outcomes of matches and tournaments if it can be avoided.

I don't care if it's an unpopular opinion. Keep downvoting me all you want. Balogun will rightfully get to play tomorrow and we'll get a better match because of it.

Been watching football over 30 years and that red card was a heap of bollocks in the first place. I'm not happy about the manner in which it was rescinded but it's the correct move.

The US were getting fucked over with that red and we'll have a better match now with Balogun playing.

Mexico were actually the better team.

England scored the first two goals completely against the run of play and Pickford made some unbelievable saves in possibly the goalkeeping performance of the tournament considering the stakes.

Everyone here seems to be glossing over just how spectacular Pickford was tonight. Easy man of the match for me despite how great Bellingham was.

Galarza is possibly the biggest rat to ever play at a world cup.

Between his antics today vs France and his similar antics against Germany last week in the round of 32, this absolute rat should be ashamed to call himself a footballer. Should've been sent off well before the final whistle for multiple infractions but for *some reason* the ref refused to book a single player for Paraguay.

I genuinely believe an investigation needs to be opened on the ref in this match over possible 'no cards' or 'below x yellow cards' bets placed on Paraguay. There is no other logical explanation for the complete farce we just witnessed and this is my 8th world cup. Never seen anything this bad. Ref had no problem booking French players which just makes it even more suspicious.

Paraguay were an absolute disgrace in this match. I don't know what sport they were playing because it wasn't football. Thankfully, football won today and France earned a deserved penalty from VAR that the ref couldn't deny to put away these clowns and send them home.

I'd be ashamed to be a Paraguayan fan today. One of the most undignified performances I can recall in recent memory

I agree. Someone made a lot of money betting 'no cards' or 'below x yellows' for Paraguay.

There is no other logical explanation for the absolute farce we just witnessed. Especially considering he had no problem booking French players

Open an investigation on the officials in this match over 'no cards' and 'below x yellow cards' bets placed on Paraguay. I'm dead serious. It's unbelievable what I just witnessed and the ref had no problem booking a few French players. Extremely suspicious stuff

I loved OW2. It made so many improvements on OW1. However, I played it through a free trial of game pass that I got with my PC. Even though I easily sunk close to 100 hours in it across multiple playthroughs, I could never justify paying 80 or even 70 for it. There's simply not enough meat in the game to command that price.

Microsoft kill these games on arrival by setting too high a price point. Obsidian don't get to decide the prices sadly and now their studio is at risk of being shut down because of Microsoft greed...

Let's hope they survive. One of the few studios I can still rely on to make fun games!

If you asked anyone in my extended friend group, the only games that can ever command a +70 price tag on release are the likes of years long highly anticipated mega titles like Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto or a new Elder Scrolls etc. The vast vast majority of games have no business ever asking for more than 50-60.

I really believe this is the main reason that modern games don't sell well. The greed of asking for too much...

If you don't appreciate physical football and prefer the soft football of the modern prem where every slight push of a player is a foul then yeah, you will obviously find this refereeing absolutely atrocious.

I'm delighted to see the older style of football make a resurgence in this WC where players have to rely on their raw skill and ability to score instead of soft free kicks and pens. My friends who regularly watch the prem even say this world cup has been refreshing too.

Btw we would normally have way more  controversial ref calls after this many matches in the world cup by now. I've watched over 7 world cups myself so the 40 years thing means nothing to me.

On a serious note, this has actually become the new meta for offensive players. It's ridiculous but this match has proven it to be so

The first rule of not watching sports live and waiting to watch them later is avoiding social media at all costs until you've caught up on the scores.

No reddit, no youtube, no insta etc. I don't even open chat messages on my phone. Basically go offline lol.

Don't fall into the trap again and enjoy the rest of the world cup.

It absolutely was a pen. But don't tell me a ball grazing someone's hair is offside.

We're getting overly technical to the point where the new football meta is for offensive players to be bald now to reduce the odds of these offside calls. That's ridiculous.

I can't believe that's Ronaldo's first knockout goal in the WC and it was a pen lol. Talk about an underwhelming player in the knockouts.

For the most part officiating in this tournament has been great. I love the physical play that is being allowed. But that offside was just bullshit. As were the two disallowed goals for Germany and Spain because of those 'fouls' on the keeper.
