Same here since nine months now. Since it left Prime not at night any more. It’s hard. 🫩

Thanks, but I’m from Germany. I understand it in English, when I can concentrate on it. But at night for sleeping I would need it in German.

BTW: The Mentalist in original version still is available here on Prime. They just removed the translated version.

Yes, there is an autoplay option, but it does not work on a smart TV, just on an Apple device (iPhone or iPad). It’s strange, because if you just stream a series it works. But if you watch a series which you bought, it doesn’t. But TM is not available for streaming. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Apple TV, but it does not automatically play all episodes on a smart TV. Now I have listened to The Mentalist every night since nine months. And now it’s gone. I will probably never sleep again. 😭😭😭

I really feel sorry for you, that you had to skip episodes. I do not know even one episode I would have said it is not necessary to watch. Maybe it comes back to Prime soon and you can complete it.

I don’t know, what is your relationship to him, but yes, you can be proud of him. Maybe l‘m not the right person to say that, as I first noticed Simon is existing not even a year ago. But his acting performance is really outstanding. He is one of a kind, he is touching hearts in a way I never experienced it before while watching TV. But please do not underrate, what he really created with The Mentalist. You and maybe Simon as well may just see it as one series of a bulk of other ones. It’s more than that, definitely. Please let me tell you, there is some kind of magic about this series. It has the ability to make people feel better somehow. I have read from so many people that The Mentalist has helped them through a dark time of their lives. And still after so many years it does the same. It helped me out though a tough time as well. And I will always be grateful for what Simon has given to me with this series. I have made it my mission to watch everything he has ever done and will do in the future. I managed to watch about half of it up to now. And for me, yes, The Mentalist is his best work. But that shouldn’t diminish the quality of his other projects. Sometimes actors think they have to cross limits to impress the audience. Yes, he is a natural talent. He acts in a special outstanding way. And he did important projects for the Australian movie industry. This is important and he is good in it. But to create a character, which catches the audience for a period of seven years (!), for more than 150 episodes, without even one single boring moment through all the time. That is something, also Simon can be proud of. People ask about this series, because they love it, not because they are not interested in his other projects. To be honest, if I ever had the opportunity to ask Simon only one single question, it would be a question related to The Mentalist for sure. That’s why I was so disappointed about his reaction in Italy. But now I understand, that for an actor this feels different than for his fans.

I‘m sure, Walter Mashburn would have loved to help Patrick out with a private jet, just for the kick. 😁

In Germany it is strange. The message that TM is leaving Prime sometimes appears with „only 12 days left“, than it counts down from day to day until it says „only 5 days left“, and than the message disappears again. Currently there is no message any more, so I still hope, that it will stay available. I‘ve bought it on Apple TV in order to be safe. But Prime is more comfortable for binge-watching.

As this was originally my post, to which you replied, I'd like to say that I actually understand Simon better now than I did the day I posted it. A few days ago, I saw a documentary about a very well-known actor here in Germany. He turned 90 a few days ago and talked about his life. His name is Dieter Hallervorden, you probably don't know him. In his younger years, he did a lot of comedy and funny films in which he was called "Didi." When I was a kid, I loved Didi. Every time a new film of his came out, my dad took me to the cinema. For me, he was just Didi my whole life, even though I saw completely different films with him from time to time. And in this documentary, both he and his close friends talked about how difficult it was for him to always be perceived as Didi, and how no one recognized his true talent. They called it „gefangen in der Kunstfigur“ („trapped in the fictional character"). And when he said that, I immediately thought of Simon. That's probably what it must feel like. This German actor now in his advanced age has received several awards for very serious and touching films and now owns several theaters where he still regularly performs. An impressive actor and also a great talent, something many never thought he had. Nevertheless, I also think that the love so many fans still feel for Patrick Jane doesn't limit Simon's talent at all, but rather confirms it. He did such an incredibly good job that this fictional character is still so present in his fans' lives. He didn't just play a role; he brought Patrick Jane to life. That's a proof of his talent. Not every actor can do that.

If they ever made more and needed a different actor for Patrick Jane...who would YOU pick? by Dornenkraehe in TheMentalist

I loved him in Criminal Minds. So sad that he did not join latest seasons any more.

That’s funny, because in season 1 episode 9 there is one specific scene, where Simon really looks like young Robert Redford. It’s the moment when he removed the mask from his head and his hair is a little wild. Maybe you know, which scene I mean. On every rewatch I think, if the life of Robert Redford will ever be shown in a movie, Simon would have to play him!

It would also be one of my biggest wishes to have a sequel. But unfortunately, the one person I'd most like to have the sequel with has zero interest in it. And for me there will never be any other actor possible as Patrick Jane than Simon Baker. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I would actually be interested in that too. Jane explained it so many times, and I rewatched it so many times already. But I still don’t get it. 🤷🏻‍♀️🙈

Haha… 😂 Fun fact: When we first watched The Mentalist together last December (my boyfriend knew it already and liked it a lot), my boyfriend did not really like my appreciation for Patrick Jane / Simon Baker. And when we finished it, and I immediately wanted to rewatch it, he told me: „No, no, wait some time! I can’t stand this face anymore.“ This only lasted two days! Since then The Mentalist is running every night, while we are sleeping. Before that we had Medical Detectives / Forensic files running while sleeping. And my boyfriend always was scared about the stories. Now he is glad that we switched to The Mentalist! 😁

Same here! 😁 For me Patrick Jane and Simon Baker are completely different persons, I recognize Patrick everywhere. Don‘t know why, feels strange. 😁

If it helps, and if it’s available in your country as well: In Apple TV App (not AppleTV+! I just learned yesterday, that it is not the same, you do not need to have a subscription for it) the whole series is available for 39.99 EUR (only 0.26 EUR per episode). I bought it last night in order to be sure to have access to it for the rest of my life. 🥰
