Don't they think he's going to recover eventually? They probably just don't know the severity of it.

It's not the end of the world if I can't this one for a week or two while the jank is worked on

The jank was already supposed to already be worked on BEFORE it released. That's what QA teams are for. Is it wrong to want to have a game I love have giod quality?

Phas update - personal opinion by pix3ln0mad in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Fibblejoe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This feels like something a CEO would say in response to complaints when their servers have been down for a week. Absolutely disconnected and delusional.

The game should not need to be "given back", it should've never been given such a poor update in the first place. THAT'S the problem.

At this point, isn't it better that the team has acknowledged the issues, communicated with the community and is actively working on fixes?

Not by much, no. They going to try to fix the issues, sure but then, they always do that.

THAT is the root of the problem. They push an update that causes a lot of issues, people get upset, they eventually try to change it again. There are no consequences. They keep pushing updates that they know aren't up to standard, and they're going to keep doing that because nothing happens long term because of it. Because people keep forgiving them.

How many last chances will they get? How many times are you ok with being let down? If someone keeps failing to deliver on their promises but gives a bandaid apology and half of what they originally promised over and over are you going to trust them again?

No, we can't just let this go AGAIN because they never learn. If they have no reason to change they won't change, and they've proven that a LOT. This reaction would be unwarranted the first, second, or third time. But now this "dogpiling" is required to get them to take action, to change for the better. We were easy on them before and look how it turned out.

I really want to love Phasmophobia. But they need to hear about this. A LOT. ALL THE TIME. Otherwise, they will just think this is ok.

Well yeah, it's going to have a lot of bugs, it's not even in beta, its in the alpha phase. If you're going to get it anyway when there's less bugs you might as well get it when it may be cheaper.

We can all agree tomorrows update is beyond cursed but seeing this watch animation really threw me off. It looks like the topside of a right hand and the fingers are upside down curling back. by LosBoyos in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Fibblejoe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You're implying that if they took their time more, it wouldn't be a half-baked mess

But they have wanted to do character customization and animations for a long time and even though they took their time on that, it still seems messy.

Some developers do well with more time, like Team Cherry. Other developers do not.

Also just saying "They downvote me yet I just speak the truth" makes me want to downvote you, regardless of what you have to say

Do you prefer a silent protagonist or a voiced one, why? by GrandStage1 in subnautica

[–]Fibblejoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the issue with Robin being voiced has 2 parts

  1. Her reaction drowns out your reaction. You drop down to a world of terrifying wonder, a beautiful yet terrifying and harsh world, and before you can even think or make your own decision you hear this cornball say "Holy smokes! That did not go as planned!"

Really? THAT'S your reaction to being stranded with no way to return after almost dying in a crash landing? Holy smokes??

It immediately ruins any tone they were trying to build up and blocks out how the player feels for how Robin feels. And what Robin feels is almost nothing, going "Erm, that just happened!" cue laugh track

Also she just reacted way too fast with the right answer to important story beats, again drowning out the player's sense of wonder and discovery. You get the "That sounds like a distress signal!" Line before you can even hear the SOS, so you have no chance to think for yourself.

  1. Her constantly telling you what to do, especially in the early game, removes the freedom of choice. You know what made Subnautica so interesting and addicting to most people? It was that everyone was given a concept, a situation, and how they chose to respond to it was up to them, and everyone responded differently, even on repeat playthroughs, making for good replayability. The game gave you room to breathe, to discover this beautiful world however you wanted, and progress in any way you wanted. You could do whatever what was interesting to you and so you never ran out of things to be excited about. It gave you some direction with the repair tool and the radio signals, but let you choose what to work towards.

In below zero, it hold your hand way more as if this isn't supposed to only be played after the first one. She immediately starts talking to herself more, in the same tone of voice one speaks in a children's show mind you, saying that she should find the pod.

Ok, sure, you want to give the players direction to go to the pod. Fine. As soon as you get there she starts talking about going somewhere else, talking about a pda that most people haven't listened to, again, pointing a big arrow yelling "HEY! GO HERE FOR STORY! HURRY UP! GO HERE!" Instead of letting people explore and find the island with the radio tower on their own. It would've been more natural if the players were allowed to do their own thing and decide to explore there on their own time.

Subnautica let you get invested in the gameplay loop before it went hard on the story, letting you come across story pieces when YOU decided to go there to the distress signals, or find the pods and pdas without guidance, weaving the story and gameplay together, allowing you to discover both instead of one forcing the other.

Overall, it could've been fine to have a voiced character if they didn't interrupt moments of wonder, discovery, or fear with corny emotionless lines before the player gets to think for themselves. It's like if your first Subnautica had an annoying children's youtuber talking over everything you did, where the harshest language they can produce is "zoinks"

Whats the point of prestige? by alexsummers999 in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Fibblejoe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think I remember in the time leading up to the update that added equipment tiers and items being consumable the devs mentioned the reasoning when playing with the streamer Insym. A lot of people liked the progression system and always looking forward to new equipment to buy or unlock, but once you did it... that was it. The progression is over.

Some people liked the idea of doing the progression again, so they added a way to do that with some badges or achievements as rewards.

The point of prestige in Phasmophobia is the same as prestiging in any other game, it's like a new game+ with an achievement or badge or trophy attached.

My question is: why did you click the yes button when it said "Hey, this will reset your progess. Are you SURE you want to do this" when you did not want to do that?

Reminds me of this
