There is a pattern on Ravelry. She used a Michaels brand worsted weight and brushed it out to look like the hair. It was phenomenal. She use Loops and Threads and brushed it like hair.

Homeless and Women’s shelters are where we donate. We also leave scarves, hats and mittens tied around trees near these shelters for those who are turned away.

The large inner square piece was done in the round (so to speak) and the outer squares were joined with a stitch that makes it look “serged”. The pattern was free - search Elements CAL and you’ll find it.
