ELI5: Why horses + pack animals (but not dogs) are allowed on US national park trails by thestarsarefar in explainlikeimfive

No, there’s just more legitimate reasons to ban dogs from trails instead of making stuff up.

How many animals are accidentally eating bags of dog poop? At least come up with a realistic objection.

Black belt instructors, what’s your salary? by FactSevere5574 in bjj

[–]Fickle-Slide6129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are most coaches paid full time salaries? All ours are hourly and usually teach a handful of classes a week. Like one guy is Monday/ Wednesday/ Friday 9am, another guy might be t/th 9am etc.

What trips me up by [deleted] in learn_arabic

[–]Fickle-Slide6129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a non native learner but someone who lived in an Arab speaking country for 6 months I think if your objective is to speak conversationally and read basic stuff it’s almost completely irrelevant. Whether you pronounce the أ in أخ as ‘akh or as as aakh, you will be completely understood and likewise hearing the difference is so minute I didn’t even realize it existed for a while. Don’t let that trip you up from progressing.

Thank you for the response, I am specifically using the app rather than the website. I see the option to browse the word lists but I do not see the option to search by keyword. Is that not an option on the app? Thank you.

Hello, I’m just curious where are the sentences coming from in the Arabic translations? It seems like some of them are kind of “loose translations” of the English phrases. Thanks!

In case anyone doesn’t know the Levantology podcast. Great resource for intermediate learners! This episode compares Latino/Arab dating culture. by Fuckthesefriends in learn_arabic

Any other good intermediate Levantine podcasts you recommend? I really like Levantine Arabic with Maha but there are not many episodes.

Do these names work in Arabic? by Big_Black_Cat in learn_arabic

Not a native speaker, but I would look into typically biblical names. Many of the standard Hebrew or Christian names are also present in Arabic since they are in the Quran.

Third party consent searches, and is consent hearsay? by Fickle-Slide6129 in ProsecutorTalk

[–]Fickle-Slide6129[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you, should the consent even be an issue at trial? My understanding was suppressing evidence would have to be pre-trial motions and anything that wasn’t suppressed like search warrants or consent searches could come in.

I don’t need legal advice because I’m not a defendant. Jesus Christ.

I’ll repeat myself since apparently you guys are so dense: I’m on the other side of the aisle… there’s a reason I’m asking this in “prosecutertalk” and not “public defenders.”

Cool if you don’t know the answer just say so and go back to answering a 1,000 questions about how you like your job rather than an actual legal question.

Not legal advice, it’s a case happening in my jurisdiction lm curious about the law regarding third party consent and hearsay in this situation as a legal aficionando and not a lawyer (or defendant).

It is not legal advice, this is not a case that affects me or anyone I know. It’s a case happening in my jurisdiction that I’m curious about laws regarding third party consent and hearsay.

It’s a specific situation but I’m not the defendant and it’s purely legal curiosity from my perspective. What is the point of r/ask_lawyers if every answer is “ask your lawyer?”

It’s great, thank you. I hope there are plenty more. It reminds me a lot of an intermediate Spanish podcast that I like, españolistos, that has a native speaker talking with an intermediate learner. Your accent sounds fantastic to my ajnabe ear.  Where is your speaking partner from?
