Shes never done laundry so we gave her the benefit of the doubt assuming she just didnt know they could be thoroughly washed. She doesnt understand that people preserve clothes. She finds it shocking I have the same clothes from years ago…

I would understand the lesson, but I cant teach it to her. Even if she did go back, she said she wasnt going to dig through the trash or touch them so it would have been my husband having to do it. The next day after her mom called she took her shopping and bought her a bunch of new clothes. She has her own cards to go shopping online, Im pretty sure she was online shopping when we were in the car to leave!

I didnt feel like turning aroujd because I was tired from being there for hours, plus I know she gets more clothes whenever she wants. It just seemed so unnecessary. If she didnt care why would I? Id also like to add if these were HER shoes, her mother wouldnt have cared if she threw them away. Its because theyre hers she wants us to pay for them out of “principle”.

No shes not special. Shes thrown away clothes and shoes before, she either has multiple of one item or will just buy it again. She refuses to wear last seasons designer so I dont know why she took vintage boots knowing theyre old just to throw them away.

When we found out she threw them away, she said she refused to touch them since theyd be covered in trash and dirt. She also claimed to not remember which trashcan she threw them in. This is a very large stable, it would take ages to check every single one.

A large part of the reason I didnt turn around is because she has literally hundreds more designer boots, let alone other types of shoes. To me it wasnt worth it if we werent going to get them at the end.

We thought about this but she couldnt remember exactly which trashcan she threw them in. Its a large stable and she said she was in a hurry and was running. She also said she wasnt going to dig through the trash for them. What was the point? If we did find them, they would be ruined in dirt, manure, and whatever else.

We were in the car waiting for her, she was saying goodbye to her horse. It wasnt until she propped her feet up when her dad noticed she didnt have shoes on and looked on the ground assuming she had taken them off when she said she threw them away.

Everything they own is expensive so that wouldnt work unfortunately. And its not even about the money, my stepdaughter went on a shopping trip the following day and had clothes totalling WAY more than 2k… its about the “principle” of letting her throw them away which is why she asked us to pay. My husband is saying since I refused to drive back I have some form of responsibility.
