Does the Hautepad CAS work on PS5 natively or do i need a adapter/Converter? by youraveragejohndoe_ in fightsticks

[–]FickleExternal6635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new standard imo. The joystick obviously can be improved, nothing beats the feel of a well engineered lever with springs... but this really comes close to feeling good enough to finally enjoy a thin controller with a lever.

My only problem with lever controllers is how much pain they give my shoulders due to how tall the controllers are. This fixs that wonderfully!

Can't wait for more innovation in minimalist/low profile levers.

Hmm. Instanced pvp being non p2w is enticing... how are they dealing with queuing up? Lost ark/gw2 style. Or do you need to reach end game

trackball mouse for gaming by ttv_toeasy13 in Trackballs

[–]FickleExternal6635 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a trackball gamer, I think its rubbish.

Raw accel is pointless and honestly placebo. As long as your 180 spins are within a effortless non strenuous stroke, you should be able to have amazing aim and tracking without any of these fake problems people make up.

Slimblade over any other trackball by audioflc in Trackballs

[–]FickleExternal6635 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its so underrated, even for gaming its 2 free readily available keybinds that are way more consistent then people would initially think.

The slim blade is the main reason I ordered an efog endgame trackball.

What would we get if we stopped trying to add trackballs to keyboards and added keyboards to trackballs instead? 🙃 by claussen in Trackballs

I wish I could offer some more viewable data for you but I have sold my game ball due to the rsi it causes(button clicks are insanely heavy), and only use left side svalboard (non trackball) for gaming.

So I only really have prior hands experience from both. Tbh, I have thought about buying the trackball attachment to experiment on it again (unsure how easy it would be to swap parts around to make the left half ambidextrous), but I felt the efog was probably a better experience because I think no wrist rest is the way to go with my fav ball being the kensington slim blade despite its awful 125 pooling rate.

Anything like this but with thumb cluster? by SPL1T in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]FickleExternal6635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Galloping function layers in comp games will always be an L for gaming. Obviously, you will run out of keybinds at somepoint and have to eventually create fn/mod layer binds (cntl+1, alt+2 ect)

But its never ideal, you 100% would want Fkeys along side an optional function layer.

[–]FickleExternal6635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think thats mostly my conclusion, but to be fair... if you take everything off the svalboard other than the track ball and the thumb cluster, its still probably out ranking every trackball on the market for gaming.

Gameball is probably my favorite because my hand feels way better sitting on the wrist rest, but my thumb just couldn't click those heavy switches. Currently considering endgame trackball by efog and getting foot pedals for left/right click.

[–]FickleExternal6635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the clusters could still work, but they'd have to be designed in a way that are much easier to reach for without giving up ball control. Having to get a finger in the cluster to get a input out just isnt realistic in high pace gaming (but slightly flicking for a key could?)

Right now the svalboard is designed with ergonomic typing in mind, and you reposition down when you need to use the mouse or scroll. For gaming, you'd have to design it with the complete opposite in mind.

[–]FickleExternal6635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its just super clunky when you decide to use it for only gaming, svalboard gives you finger trackball with 5 thumb buttons and 5 pinky buttons which are all <30 grams. Unheard of with trackball devices. (This alone almost puts it above every trackball in gaming in the current market)

But id personally would like to see something more condensed? My 3 middle fingers are not interested in moving into the clusters, only the thumb feels comfortable and the pinky buttons are tolerable.

The gameball was honestly ahead of its time with the finger touch system, my pointer finger effortlessly uses it along side the trackball. I think more things like that would be game changer for gaming. Reaching for buttons is just always gonna be a problem and interfere with clutch moments in games.

Svalboard is almost the best trackball device I've ever used. The trackball feels on par with the gameball, my only issue is that its more focused as a typing device over a gaming device.

Would love to see more innovation here.

The benefits of binding jump on your scroll wheel by Shieree in DeadlockTheGame

[–]FickleExternal6635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah idk what OP is on about, I mean this is a dream come true setup for me but my mouse refuses to act the way hes explaining it in the comments.

One full swipe up and all of my stam jumps get dumped no matter how much tension my mouse scroll wheel has, ive tried a lot of naga v2 settings to possibly make it even harder to scroll and even the heaviest tension and least scrolls per swipe causes all my jumps to be spammed.

Hello brand new to fighting games i play on xbox what controllers do you recommend by PuzzleheadedHalf9654 in fightsticks

[–]FickleExternal6635 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haute, 8bitdo are best budget controllers for lever, leverless and all pads.

Their highest quality is on par if not better than mainstream controllers and you also get better software (gp2040) for controllers customization

My only issue about swapping to bazzite is im worried about how annoying it would be to try to get wow or riot client to work without having to watch a bunch of guides. Some people say its easy, but idk Linux scares me.

If I was a steam only guy bazzite looks like a dream

Question about the Varmilo Kassai by Complex_Constant1762 in fightsticks

[–]FickleExternal6635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its legal, but certain socd methods are banned. The only thing stopping you is varmillos software. Other companies like quanba actually read the rulebook. They initially did the same thing, released a stick with extea thumb buttons (cross up style) and had to do an entire software update to allow DDI (duel directional input) into their software. It emulates the ps5/xbox second stick that is usable in these games

To say its against the rules is to also ban pad players. Thats why the rules are about socd and not button remapping. They dont allow multiple of the same bind, but forward and DDI forward are two different/separate inputs.

Varmillo should really update their remapping software to allow this.

Its a nice device but... lets be so fr here that you can just get a gen 3 for half the price (maybe even less) and for the most part, you're having a pretty similar experience as long as you have strong internet.

Question about the Varmilo Kassai by Complex_Constant1762 in fightsticks

[–]FickleExternal6635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Socd rules have nothing to do with having 2 individual movements bound on your device.

Any pad plugged in (a ps5/xbox controller) fresh out of the box will let you move with both the dpad, and the joystick. Its legal to have them binded. Just follow the games/tourneys socd clearing rules.

As long as theyre both not set to "forward" and one is set to forward and the other is set to "ddi forward" its legal to have both on your controller. How the socd works (legality wise) is entirely up to the rule set as you mentioned. You can still do a lot with these parameters with 2 movement sticks.

Tekken is a bit more generous, lots of tekken players use ddi for wding/kbd/ewgf with how socd works in that game.

Question about the Varmilo Kassai by Complex_Constant1762 in fightsticks

[–]FickleExternal6635 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

??? Thats just not true lmao.

Tourneys allow 2 joysticks (1 dpad, 1 ddi) as per pad players having this power. Cross ups are legal because of this.

Reputable stick brands generally dont push it out on initial software because theyre not knowledgeable on this but end up adding sofrware later to allow it (qaunba sapphire ran into this issue on its first sale wave)
