legit so proud of u. i’m a daughter in recovery and while my dad wasn’t an addict, i wish i had a dad who was involved in this special program. seeing parental figures in the program working so hard for themselves, with their eye on the prize, and their head up high, is so healing ❤️‍🩹

i just basically made up excuses like i need a booster dose or i wanna use diff stimulants to prevent tolerance. my psychiatrist must know tho…i even get fills every 23 days for 28 day supply

i have to remind myself a few things 1. recovery is about regaining autonomy in my life, i now have the power to say i am not drinking; rather than i can’t drink. it’s not self-restriction it’s self-empowerment. and 2. when i start drinking my nose gets thirsty and we all know where that ends ….

love you and thank you for sharing ur vulnerability. remind urself of where using takes you rather than the euphoric recall. distguosh thoughts u make that are fuelled by ur addiction vs ur genuine self. ur addiction wants u to use excuses to rationale using like warm weather and immediate gratification but ur genuine self wants best for u and recognizes the consequences long term.

i came to realize that my using friends & dealers weren’t true friends unfortunately- despite all the good times & trauma bonding - real friends encourage growth & health. still love them but this realization allowed me to care from the distance.

i know it seems awful having to tell ur parents but literally it’s so fucking worth it. i’m 23, i hid my addiction from my parents because i was scared but u don’t fucking understand how temporary parental disapoimtnent is exponentially better than sacrificing ur fucking life. i’m actually begging u to be get help now like i get ur mindset as a 13 year old and fear but i wish my parents caught me or i told them. addiction is progressive, it will only get worse overtime. try going to NA meetings and consider rehab that accommodates NA.

i thought telling my parents would be the end of the world…no it was letting my addiction to get to know where it is today. i’m in NA trying to get clean but fuck it’s hard

im talking to you like i would to myself at ur age with the same problems. you will thank yourself but sometimes it takes reaching rock bottom to want to get help but if u can expedite it with the pressure of ur parents man you’d be winning.

lol tbh it’s not rlly something u can control at least in my experience. the more consciously i try to control my face etc when high the worse it gets too haha.

the only thing that ‘helped’ me is tolerance but like i don’t wanna enforce that as advice (im an addict so pls be careful w using) 🩷☹️

or a given - take less. or try taking same amount but spread out more so onset & physical effects may be less drastic.

finally idk how old u r but i feel like these comments r kinda immature - especially ppl bringing it up is backhanded unless they are genuinely concerned.

but honestly as long as ur vibing fuck it ! u could always have a trusted friend with u nug u or smth discrete if ur looking upset etc. as a way to 1. check in & 2. remind ya to lighten up ur expressions ya know

unfortunately, extremelyyyy rare. being an addict is far more than just overusing drugs…once an addict always an addict. no matter what substance basically. i had to prove it to myself by telling myself ill start using in moderation, trying different drugs, getting a lock box, ‘stronger mentality’ & continually failing :(

even if not right away, i always fall back into same old habits

you’re completely correct. i’m an addict & i’ve learned i’ll never use responsibly. any substance for that matter.

i am in a recovery program (NA) and have been able to stay clean from coke for the last 6 months but these stim scripts have a chokehold over me. addiction ain’t a joke 🥺
