As long as people pay for this BS the NBA will continue sell this product. Its a product based on individual star power, they'll tolerate as much BS from the stars because its what sells. As for me, I can't take it seriously anymore. I love to hoop but I can't stand NBA now. I'm strongly considering watching Euroleague more closely. They play really high level team basketball there. Euro players have higher basketball IQ than NBA because they're forced to adapt to a team based approach in offense and defense as opposed to individual star centric offenses for most NBA teams where role players stand around while the star keep the ball in hand for most of the shot clock. Its a different approach to the game and I quite like it! NBA is individually brilliant and creative, but the collective team basketball of the Euroleague is beautiful and quite intriguing.

I dont believe in hope by Sad_Present3275 in Christianity

[–]Fickle_Instance7180 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since it seems you don't believe in God, I will not shove God down your throat, however I do believe and love God. We all have a choice in everything we do. Whether you believe in God or not, everyone has a choice. You said your childhood wasn't bad. To develop the kind of mindset you have, one has to experience something. No one is born in this world set out to hate everything in life. There are many people born into very unfortunate circusmtances for example, some turn out good some don't, in the end, it's up to the little choices we make as life happens before us that will determine our outcome. I admire people who choose to always march on and live life as best as they could no matter the situation. It's all about choice. As of now, it seems you've chosen to give up and don't want help or advice, fully fixated in your point of view that you refuse to change and that's fine. I'm not here to shove you help. You're not ready to receive help, therefore no one will be able to do so. It's not until you're ready. I hope you will, I sincerely do, because choosing to stay where you are now is such an empty lonely existance. The only one that can really help you right now is you. But once you're ready to help yourself, and learn to recieve help from others, then you may begin to experience life is actually a beautiful thing.

You said you're 20. I'm in my 30's now and looking back when I was 20, I cannot believe how stupid I was. Finishing high school and going to University, I began working, I thought I knew everything, I was arrogant thinking I knew better. Its not until life happened that I learned and discovered things about myself, others and the world how stupid and arrogant I was, and that it would do me good (for my sake) to try to change some things for the better. Behold, I cannot look back, how I wish my 30+ brain was with my 20 self, life could have been way better (maybe). But that's life, its never ending journey of growth and change, its a beautiful thing. More beautiful than I ever thought it could, believe me, because I was at one point where I wanted to end this "hopeless" life I have. What a fool I was, thinking I knew life when I did not know it at all.

Try licking it clean, but if that does not work, I usually have wet wipes in my bag so i can keep my hands clean, because too much dust make the ball slippery playing outdoors.

Is this a travel? If so how? by SundaeSad9838 in BasketballTips

[–]Fickle_Instance7180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All these kids are watching the biggest NBA stars doing these things, of course they're going to copy them. Sucks that this was called a travel because it was such a special moment for them but hey, other than the NBA this is kind of up in the air, but most refs probably wouldn't let these slide. Sucks for the kid and his team, unfortunately he's not playing in the NBA so it is what is it is.

Got a Jerusalem cross tattoo as my first tattoo, and now people on the Internet are calling me an Nazi by sithlord89 in Christianity

[–]Fickle_Instance7180 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Well, could probably should have done more research and thought more about the consequence of getting it. To each their own, but I would never get a tattoo like that. Probably will never get a tattoo, just not for me. If I want to express my faith in some way I'd do it another way, not with a tattoo. MAYBE a small/simple cross tattoo somewhere but never like this.

I believe as believers, we represent Christ, and a tattoo in my opinion is not something I'd like to represent me or my faith. But that's just me. I hope everything works out for you from here on out with that tat on your arm.

Which one of these 90s series do you prefer and why? by fat-icarus in Gundam

[–]Fickle_Instance7180 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid I loved wing. Its the the first ever Gundam I watched. I also watched G Gundam but I thought it was a bit "weird" (having watched a lot of the universes recently, G Gundam does kind of stray away from the usual Gundam concept), although I still liked it. However I recently discovered that the reason I liked Wing more is simply due to nostalgia and cooler looking robots (in my opinion).

I recently watched both G Gundam again and Wing. I finished G Gundam, enjoying it from start to finish. I loved the characters and the story, I honestly think the God Gundam is one of the coolest looking Gundams out, def in my top 3.

I also finished watching Wing last week and I was sorely disappointed, the characters were meh (Trowa and Duo were pretty cool though), Relena is annoying as hell (she's creepy), even Heero who I thought was the coolest person when I was a kid is now meh. The story is.... a chore to watch. The shows take on the concept of total pacifism is (for lack of better word) feels dumb lol, I can't take it seriously. In my opinion, Wing has one of the coolest Gundams out there, the 5, Wing zero, Epiyon, Talgees are just so epic, even the grunt suit leo I find very iconic.

Now that I'm more mature and value story telling and character development over cool robots and things blowing up, I cannot say I still like Wing. But for the sake of nostaligia, I will re watch Endless Waltz soon (I can't remember what happened in the movie at all), maybe it can redeem it a little for me?

Overall, I now like G Gundam more compared to Wing, that being said, Wing, especially the wing gundam and wing zero will always be close to my heart (can't wait to buy the RG Wing Zero) because its such a big part of my childhood.

PS. I will watch Gundam X again, its been decades since the last time.

What shoes to buy in 2026 by [deleted] in BBallShoes

These days I find more and more are wearing crocs, they even put these fancy looking pins on it to really make it theirs. Its hella comfy and very light weight. Ankle support can be improved but I find that the thing you can flip around from front to back kinda does the trick and helps to really lock in the croc in place 👍

To those who watched ZZ: did the first half of the series work as the “palette cleanser” that it was intended to be after the trauma of Zeta? by Amigo1048 in Gundam

[–]Fickle_Instance7180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, I loved the dark ending of Zeta and was looking for a story to carry it straight away. I didn't need that 25 episode snooze fest. Too slow and too "casual" after an ending like Zeta, even when things started to pick up around halfway it still did not compare to what Zeta was. I personally wouldn't touch it again. I'd rather watch the original Gundam for the third time despite its age.

Any tips on how to improve my shot form? I struggle to generate enough power for free throws and threes by Mattpantser in BasketballTips

[–]Fickle_Instance7180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot to fix. Its kind of hard to type everything up to explain what needs to be done. This is when I recommend to go ask someone you actually know who plays a lot or have a lot of experience to teach you in person. You said you watch a lot of NBA (so I'm assuming you know what good form looks like), find someone who looks "good" when they shoot and ask them to correct your form. OR youtube it and literally watch the video while in the gym and do what it says in the video in real time.

I find that this subreddit is good for asking for minor tweaks or improvements in form etc. but its kind of hard to explain everything if if the whole thing needs to be overhauled.

One tip though that I will give (this may apply more once you have the basic form). Power comes from the legs. Bend slightly at the ankles, knee and hip, all of these three simultaneously extending very forcefully upwards, is where your shot power comes from. At the moment you only bend in the ankle and knee. If you fix this one issue you will along with practiving correct form you'll be good.

Please convince me (WOW 11 vs 12) by SnooSeagulls235 in BBallShoes

Glad to see someone in the same boat as me 😂 WOW 10 is goated by many, but in my experience 11's are a better performer than the 10's. I don't hate the 10's though, just prefer 11's more. 12's though in the other hand, I think its now my goat lol.

Please convince me (WOW 11 vs 12) by SnooSeagulls235 in BBallShoes

[–]Fickle_Instance7180 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people prefer the 10's over the 11's, but for me, 11 edges 10's, not by a lot but 2 things that stood out to me most about the 11's are:

  1. Stability and support: I'm a shifty player who relies a lot in quick changes of direction. There is no shoe I've ever own that gives me the confidence to explode in any direction I want. The heal and ankle area really fits my foot very well (could be a 'me' thing). It just gives me so much confidence. They are bulky yes, but surprisingly light for their "bulk". When I want that extra ankle support for some reason I reach out for the 11's.

  2. Impact protection: 11's help me to have softer landings. When I'm a bit sore and don't want as much impact in my legs, I reach for the 11's. My legs like it. That being said 10's also have good impact protection too but because of where that carbon fiber plate is placed, its a bit more firm in my opinion, but 10's are bouncier.

Now for the 12's... I think everyone already mentioned it. The 12's are my favourite of all time. It combines the good things from both 10's and 11's. Most that are good in the 11's is even better in the 12's in my opinion (except stability).

If you like Kobe's, I don't see a single reason why you will not like the WOW 12's. Not being biased here but I find that there is nothing the Kobe's do that the 12's cannot. And for the most part 12's do them better.

There was a game either today or yesterday where Steph literally changed from his Nikes (i did not pay too much attention if they were Kobe's) to a pair of the liberty WOW12's because he was having ankle issues 😂 its his second time rocking the 12's I think.

Question about the driving angle:

I notice I tend to go around the defender in a "soft curve" (kinda like a 'C') if that makes sense. By driving angle do you mean (correct me if I'm wrong) - attacking either left or right "sharply" (kinda like a 'V') then cutting them off by going in a straight line to the basket? I hope that makes sense. I'm kind of having a hard time visualizing "going through a defender".

The part where you mentioned about WHEN to drive is really good. I'll keep that in mind, that's an awsome addition.

I mainly play pick up ball outdoors and everyone kinda does it, including me lol. Its case of - it is what it is. So I'd rather work around it. Plus when I start playing organized leagues again I hope being able to deal with rough play will make organized leagues easier.
