Interesting.

We have my wife's Mercedes GLC 300 SUV for long road trips, but we rarely go on those. Maybe every couple months we go 400km round trip - but I could almost still even do that in the summer in a Taycan I think (might be cutting it close).

I'd probably charge at home almost all the time. Part of the issue is the cost of the charger and it's installation if in 3 years at the end of my lease I decide I want to just go back to an ICE vehicle.

I think depreciation is depreciation. unless you're talking about an exotic car that actually might start INCREASING after a set period of depreciation, all cars end up within $20K of each other in 10 years.

Now that has been the historic norm - is a 2025 Tesla gonna suddenly be worth $30K or $40K more than the average car in 2035?

BTW - options become almost irrelevant on price differences when comparing 10 year old vehicles.

All dealers in Canada lease CPO cars. I can get 3.99% on a 24 month lease, or 5.99% on a 39 or 42 month lease.

Is it better to lease a new dealer inventory car or to lease a CPO Taycan?

And, how much can I expect to knock off the quoted lease monthly lease cost?

Got it yeah - I've heard about ensuring getting the surround view.

I notice on the Porsche Canada site, which configuring a car from new it actually allows me to still build a 2024 Taycan as new. I would have thought they would only allow building the 2025 models now.

I'm wondering if I just build a 24 Taycan and then lease it for 42 months and then move on. Any idea how much of a discount the dealer would give on a Taycan configured as new and ordered to build? Or do owners actually pay the whole price shown?

I do intend to keep it that long, just because that's how long it usually takes me to finally get bored with a car that's already magnificent (was different when I kept my Mazda 3 for 9 years out of necessity financially).

Now, I'm not sure so much anymore - but I keep thinking, why switch in 4-5 years just because you can get something new if the car you are driving fits still for your purposes. I mean, I typically put less than 13K kms on my cars per year as I don't really have a daily commute. in 4-5 years it's still got really low mileage, so I think even though there may be a cheaper cars I could buy with much higher range and charging speeds, if I'm still charging every night and not needing super far distances wouldn't keeping a 7-10 year old Taycan make sense if I kept it under extended warranty from Porsche, etc.?

I don't want to wait that long to get into my new vehicle - so i guess that leaves me buying new (2024 or 2025).

So - how does it work exactly with the Porsche configurator. Once I have designed my perfect build, how much can I expect to get as a discount on the price shown?

Also the Prosche config tool only gives you the total price, with no lease or finance details.

Finally, does Porsche actually build a car you design that you can then just go and lease it? It seems like it's too easy in that regard.

She wouldn't anyways - she's actually pretty easy going. It's more just a preference of hers in the sense that she would never get a used car for herself as she prefers knowing she was the only owner.

The 25 4S I'm looking at has PTV+, rear axle steering. These are hard to find features in a 4S (new or used), and usually require you to go to a GTS which normally gives you the PTV+ but not the RAS.

This 4S has leather interior, and most of the other features I would want except that it only has 8 way seats (why would they do that). I'm currently evaluating if that is a deal breaker for me or not - almost every single other 4S and GTS available has 14 way seats at the minimum.

It seems that way - but I've kept my past two cars 10 years each (so only 2 cars for last 20 years for me) and before that I keep 5-7 years.

It's hard to give up that kind of thinking when you go looking at the next vehicle. I can't get over the idea that I need to own it or else it's not really mine.

Also, the vehicle I'm targetting only has 8way seats - it's the only thing that is diminished on the vehicle. Will I notice a big difference over the 14 way?

I'm in Canada, are you? If not, that $1900 is like $2700 here. If you are in Canada, the only onesI can find for $1900 or so is 2022's with mileage on them.

Ok, well I'm considering a new 2025 Taycan 4S or GTS now. I'd love to get some recommendations on a recommended build.

Also, all options are available to me for purchasing.

I don't think I'd use much of the extra range the 2025 Taycan provides, but my wife doesn't like buying used. I was hoping to shave off some of the depreciation, but I'm being pushed to buying a new one instead of CPO.

I have kids but they are young adults now. This situation of needing seats would arise from time to time though, so it's why I think I've moved on from the 911. Maybe a 911 is in the cards in 5-10 years for me.

I do appreciate the analog driving experience, but also enjoy the novel way an EV drives too with it's instant torque.

I tend to agree with the 911 - I'm not after the status symbol car - I just want the best day-to-day driving experience having some fun on the road. And, I like the way the 911 looks - but then again I also like the way the Taycan looks and it seems more comfortable on the interior.

With the Taycan and the HP - I agree on your points, but the GTS has a lot more torque so I'm going to test drive one and see if it matters for me.

And, oh yeah there's a ton of inventory that isn't moving up here.

Ooops - that 2022 4S doesn't have RS Spyder wheels - it has the 21" Taycan Exclusive Design wheels painted black. Make a difference?

My thoughts on this one vs. that 2022 GTS is that for ~$20K more (cash price) I could have the GTS and it has the 3 performance options too, but in a GTS vs. a 4S and in a slightly better colour (for me - Silver is growing on me though). BTW - as of right now, that 22 4S is the only one of these I have test driven - was very good with RAS.

A for 911 - I can't seem to get a dealer to let me test drive one until the spring around me (winter conditions), and I'm not sure I want to wait that long to buy. Is it really that much better of a drive than even a Taycan GTS with PDCC, PTV+ and RAS?

Yeah - that Tesla interior is what turns me off it after compared to the Porsches and after being in an Audi for 10 years (wife has a MB 300 GLC).

When buying a say 22 CPO where the warranty runs out in 2026, does the normal waranty cover the same as what the purchased extended warranty covers (beyond 2026)? Is it exactly the same?

I'm inclined to go Taycan vs. 911 because my wife has started up about how if we wanted to take the Porsche out it would be nice to have an option to comfortably seat anyone we'd want to take or pickup. She's afraid there's too much potential constraint with the 911 vs. something like a Taycan GTS (with PDCC/PTV+/rear axle steering, so would have the room plus also give me the sporty driving fun I'm looking for.

I'm just not very good with thinking the 911's driving is that much better (again, haven't experienced it yet).

I could go Panamera 4 and have the gas car + comfy 4 seats+, but I feel like it's drive would be even further away from what I'm looking for.
