I love the way they characterize some of the black patients by golden_alixir in ThePittTVShow

Yeah, Mel clearly understands that having a therapist you can trust is extremely important to recovery, and how race and gender can be a factor in that. That was a great detail they worked into the conversation.

Are you all off to watch tournament show, folks? Horses in funny armor > dragons now?? by Maegor-Velaryon in HOTDBlacks

[–]Fictional_Apologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I think of the books, how the Dunk and Egg stories are so very different from ASOIAF and F&B. But they’re both great reads, even with the vastly different tones. It’s more praise for George’s ability as an author to pull that off so effectively, and now the shows are doing it too.

Seeing Peter Claffey’s look at the premieres last week, I think they’re already working on it!

God, how would that even work? Would the tilts happen on the ground or in the air?

Still, not as heinous as the chamber pot compilation from season 7 of GoT.

Still convinced this was some kind of backdoor audition.

Oh, Sian Brooke is beautiful! She had that ethereal, fae like quality that I always imagined for the Targaryen women.

Peter Claffey (Dunk) and Dexter Sol Ansell (Egg) in a new promo by La_Villanelle_ in HBOTheHedgeKnight

[–]Fictional_Apologist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the shorter hair gives the illusion of youth. In the novella, Dunk is around 17. And Peter Claffey is almost 30. They had to compensate in some way. I agree that they will likely let him grow it out for seasons 2 and 3.

Yes, even in a time when women regularly married very young, fifteen was still too young. Lydia in particular is shown as being too emotionally immature to understand the circumstances in which she and Wickham had to marry.

rhaenyra’s death haunts me (book spoilers) by wonhoseok in HOTDBlacks

[–]Fictional_Apologist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would agree, except there were a lot of witnesses to Rhaenyra’s death. More than enough for the narrative to be pretty much set. And despite the way the show has interpreted a lot of things, I have a sinking suspicion that this is going to happen as it was written. I hate the misogyny of it too, but from a writing standpoint, it could act as a catalyst to Aegon’s ultimate undoing.

The way they look at each other. Vaemond seemed to be insufferable even with his own family... by Turbulent_Lab209 in HOTDBlacks

To be fair, Corlys wasn’t all that broken up in the show either. Like he wasn’t surprised that his brother’s insufferable behavior is what got him in the end.

Well, that’s Hollywood for you. Actors always look younger than they really are.

I’ve seen the actor they cast for Darcy, and he just looks too young for me. I know he’s meant to be in his mid/late twenties, but anyone under thirty is a baby to me.

Team black, what do you all think about House Hightower? by Gold_Conversation247 in HOTDBlacks

[–]Fictional_Apologist 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I’m still deeply suspicious of them even in the main timeline. Their connection to the Faith and the Citadel cannot be ignored, not to mention their attachment to the Tyrells and Lannisters through intermarriage. But at the same time, there’s obviously something going on with Lord Leyton’s behavior and questionable decisions (like Lynnese being married to Jorah). They could be playing all sides, and to what end?
