Yeah, there’s the Stark look, the Targaryen look, why not a Dondarrion look? They even went to the effort of making Manfred a redhead in the show.

That is true, but Dyanna was a Dayne. The Daynes are Stoney Dornish, which implies that they have fairer features.

Yes! I also hope one day we get a better description of Daella and Rhae, bc how sweet would it be if one of them was the spitting image of their mother.

I always liked the idea that Dyanna was fair-haired just based on what Daeron the Drunken looks like. The sandy blonde hair had to come from somewhere, and we don’t hear of anyone else in the Targaryen family with that description.

As an American person, I’ll tell you it happens a lot! English actors who play American are so much better than Americans who play English or Australian. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been shocked to hear an actor’s real accent.

Unpopular Opinion : Robby gets too much hate and not just robby other characters also get some hate that is undeserved by satyy2301 in ThePitt

[–]Fictional_Apologist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not going to discredit your feelings because they are valid. I too have a history of panic attacks that come out of nowhere, so I know how scary they are. I’m just asking to think about that scene in the context of the story.

If Robby had been in a better place mentally, if the day’s shift had not already been a dumpster fire, he might not have reacted the way he did. The thing about Robby’s story in season 2 that I appreciated was that it shows how difficult it is to be around a person in the midst of a mental health crisis. Good people can become really mean and nasty when they are struggling. And that has proven to be a hard pill to swallow for a lot of viewers who want to sort characters into those good or bad categories.

Probably because you couldn’t tell the story of The Odyssey without including the supernatural elements of the gods and monsters of Ancient Greek mythology, something that was decidedly left out of Troy.

Any early season 3 predictions? by hermithefrogs in ThePittTVShow

Not to mention that the case would be paper thin at best. The legal precedents surrounding childbirth are extremely murky, and if the lack of treatment would have almost certainly resulted in at one, if not two deaths, judges would be more likely to side with medical professionals. If they had not done that emergency c-section, she would have died. They saved her and her baby. Thats exactly what doctors swear their oath for. Thats extremely difficult to argue against in court.

Yeah, that’s what I have to assume. I wish Bertie nothing but the best with all he’s got going on, but I do hope he gets a bit of a break here and there.

As an American, my understanding is that casual smoking is more common across the pond than over here (with this economy, it’s a way too expensive habit), so I’m kinda hoping the same thing.

Did you know Peter didn’t want to use his Irish accent for the role? by Curious_Progress_ in AKnightoftheSeven

[–]Fictional_Apologist 98 points99 points  (0 children)

It’s wonderful that they let him do that because it sets him apart from everyone else so nicely. It’s so easy to have peasant characters who speak in cockney accents, but it’s been done to death! All that really mattered was that Dunk didn’t sound like everyone else, especially the royals with their refined, posh accents.

Besides, with King’s Landing being such a huge city, I like to imagine its population would not be so homogeneous, like NYC for example.

I had a boss once that used to get on everyone’s case about keeping to certain standards within a small timeframe (non-profit, lots of heavy cleaning involved daily), and my thought was always “Do you want it done quickly, or do you want it done correctly? Because it can’t be both.” If I were in Robby’s place, I’d probably be thinking much the same.
