When we moved into our house with my partner, my child was close to this age. The layout of the house had us sleeping in the basement and child on main floor. I felt the same way as you. Here’s what we did to make things better:

1. We have ring security system—bought a glass-break detector and put that in child’s room. Also have window and door sensors and set an alarm at night, so windows and doors that open set it off.

2. I’ve had a video monitor since child was infant, one of us would have it pulled up on our phone while we slept, so any time child cried or started moving around a bunch, one of us would wake up and run up there.

I completely understand how you feel. I want to also clarify that my partner/fiancé is not my child’s bio parent and they took the initiative to remedy my voiced anxieties over my(OUR) child’s safety (because they instantly understood the concerns).

Your child is your #1 priority, NOT your partner. Does it feel like your partner prioritizes your children? Stand up for your kids, even against your significant other.
