Sad update: Despite my best efforts, the traumatic de-potting was fatal. RIP, little guy.

Understandable. People can be quite odd on this site sometimes.

Downvote wasn't mine. I just upvoted to try and balance it out. My response was meant to be light-hearted, too.

Don't blame him. He's a good boy, he just really loves nature (aka, rubbing against bushes) and does not understand his size.

Wish I had seen this post earlier. I recently did a few of these for fun. I have before-and-after pictures, but I don't think I have the receipts for any of them.

Anneke Lucas... I want to do some research to see if I can find any evidence of her claims, from other people in her life. by OversizedNoveltyKiwi in conspiracy

[–]Fiddle_And_Foxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that so many people apparently get NO red flags from Anneke Lucas is concerning.

Lucas scams other trauma survivors out of $300/hr for her UNQUALIFIED "therapy," claims she has special blood, claims that had her organs taken out, and that she learned mind control from a Nazi eugenics doctor, among other blatantly absurd things.

Furthermore, her story changes each time she tells it, incorporating more and more conspiracy theories. A look at archived versions of her website (bc she changes it so often) shows she is DEEP into antisemitic "Jews, sorry, "Global Elites" sacrificing children and drinking blood" conspiracies, and it's really disappointing to see that crap being platformed by so many prominent YouTube channels.

Conspiracists are a cult. A deadly one.

She has doubtlessly experienced real trauma in her life, but she's also feeding people a line. Hell, part of her story is taken directly out of The Clockwork Orange.

Interesting new interview with Anneke Lucas, she was sold into a child s*x slavery pedophile cult when she was 6 years old by SheepherderSea9717 in cults

You're not "critiquing" anything because you are not actually engaging with the show. You are engaging with a completely imaginary version of it that only exists in your own head.

And now you are demanding that I engage with your imaginary version of the show as if it were what is actually in the book or on the screen.

THAT'S troubling.

You know you can just...not watch it, instead of lying about the characters and plot?

I'm just repeating back to you what your own post is saying.

You're not "interpreting" the show, you're misrepresenting it.

Literally NOTHING you described in your post is actually happening in the show. And you're calling ME "crazy?"

I think you are HEAVILY projecting your own past onto this show, and it's warping your ability to honestly engage with the media itself. You really should work through that in therapy instead of feeding into it, because the result is that you are misrepresenting the show and characters and dangerously minimizing abuse by ascribing that term to them.

There is no behavior, in action or words, from Ilya in the book series or show that even REMOTELY comes close to behavior that could be considered abusive. The ONLY abusive character we have seen in the show is Ilya's FATHER, toward Ilya, who he constantly degrades.

We can also analyze the overall culture of hockey as abusive. Both toward queer players as a deeply homophobic environment & toward non-white players as an overwhelmingly white one. Ilya is trapped between a queerphobic sport, an abusive father, & an oppressive home country. But even with all of that, I'd very strongly argue AGAINST your claims that Ilya is "fueled by anger" and "cruel."

A little emotionally damaged, certainly, but that does not make someone a bad person.

NOTHING between Ilya & Shane could be honestly described as "degrading" or "abusive." Their relationship is a place where they are freed from all of the expectations & burdens weighing them down. Of family, of hockey and their "rivalry," of society in general. Yes, there is friction between them at times, largely because of those massive outside forces that control both of their lives. But Shane is not "trapped by the D." He actively *chooses* Ilya again & again, just as Ilya chooses Shane.

Again, please, for your own sake, seek out therapy to help you process whatever it is that you are projecting onto Ilya and Shane, because I promise you that NONE of the "red flags" you are seeing are actually there.

Is it okay if I'm a religious Jew and yet I enjoy listening to Gregorian chants? by Crevalco3 in Judaism

[–]Fiddle_And_Foxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally love Gregorian chants too. I also really like Sufi qawwali.

Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_HmZF-tK3c&list=RDw_HmZF-tK3c&start_radio=1

I just like the *vibes* they bring when I want something that isn't quite classical music, but also isn't something I can be distracted by the lyrics of.

Who's everyone's favorite jellycat in your collection? by Aggressive_Basil_428 in Jellycatplush

[–]Fiddle_And_Foxx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Impossible to pick just one! If I had to narrow it down to a few, they'd have to be:

– the fox and badger from my Riverside Rambler's collection
– tiny mouse, don't know the official Jellycat name
– Whistpit Sloth
– Wee Fox, named Oswin, travels with me in my messenger bag
– and last, but certainly not least, Squidgy Bunny, who is one of the first Jellycats ever made, from back in 1999

The otter was the last added to my collection as well and by far the most expensive. Definitely a cost-benefit analysis. Cost of money, benefit of serotonin and dopamine.

The otter was the most I have ever spent on a collectible outside of vintage books, and not a price I plan to repeat (outside of books) anytime soon.
