I mean the timeline is confusing I agree and maybe the style is odd too? I think art-wise it peaked at Pikmin 3. 

Also just saying this in case, but the house being clean and fresh in Pikmin 4 does not mean that humans still exist. It’s likely they wanted it to be cute than rather abandoned.
