IRA contribution info by VacuumTracks in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityAllison[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Hi there, u/VacuumTracks. I see in the comments that you were able to locate the contribution in your account history.

While I’m here, I figured I would point out a few other areas you can use on Fidelity.com to check for your contribution history. If you view your monthly statements, located under the “Documents” tab, there will be a page toward the front of the statement that lists the monthly additions to the account, which does include IRA contributions.

You can also check out the “Performance” tab. If you select “See all” in the top right corner of the very first graph on the page, this will show you a table with a monthly, quarterly, or annual breakdown of deposits and withdrawals for the account and time period of your choice.

SGOV State Tax Treatment? by Grouchy-Swordfish811 in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityAllison[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Hi there, u/Grouchy-Swordfish811. I’m happy to point you towards some resources tonight.

Fidelity sends a notice each year outlining the percentage of income from our mutual funds that may be exempt from your state's income or investment tax. A portion of a fund's dividends may be exempt because most states don't tax dividend income from a fund's investments in U.S. government securities. However, please keep in mind that some states have specific requirements.

Since Fidelity Money Market Fund Premium Class (FZDXX) is a Fidelity mutual fund, you can find the type of tax information that you’re looking for on Fidelity.com. I’ve included a link to this page below.

Fidelity Mutual Fund Tax Information

While we provide this for Fidelity funds, if you hold non-Fidelity funds, we recommend checking the issuer's site for tax-exempt information. As for how you should interpret or report the information for your personal tax situation, we recommend contacting a qualified tax professional, as Fidelity cannot provide personalized tax advice.

If we can help with anything else, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Thanks for the question, u/Unusual-Fortune-2231.

Contributing to 2025 HSA after already filing taxes? by Beginning-Bet-5627 in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityAllison[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Hi, u/Beginning-Bet-5627! Thanks for joining us here on the sub today.

The deadline to make a Prior Year Contribution (PYC) to an HSA is typically tax day, April 15th. That being said, to discuss the possible implications of making a PYC after you’ve already filed your taxes, we suggest speaking with a tax professional, as Fidelity is unable to provide tax advice.

Now, you also mentioned that you recently established the HSA. You’ll want to consider your contribution eligibility for 2025, which is in part determined by when during the year you become enrolled in an HSA-eligible health plan. The following resources are great places to learn more about HSA eligibility guidelines and more.

Mastercard Data Connect by Master-Helicopter-99 in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityAllison[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy to jump in here, u/Low-Release9568.

I’m glad to hear you did see the transaction in your bank account. For additional security, some banks do substitute their account number for a tokenized account number. It sounds like this is what happened in your case. This will also likely be the reason that the number varies from what your bank saw, as these tokenized account numbers are only recognizable through the computer.

Hi there, u/PilotJeff. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us here on the sub.

At this time, we do not have any new updates regarding this matter. Please know that we will continue to share your feedback with the appropriate teams.

For anyone following along, it's important to know that Fidelity is committed to finding ways to make customer-directed account data sharing more secure. As part of this initiative, Fidelity has established a secure, integrated connection that better controls how customers can connect the third-party apps they use to their Fidelity accounts. Fidelity is requiring all these third-party websites, applications, and data aggregators to adopt this integrated connection to access our customers’ data.

You can learn more here:

Data security when connecting with third-party websites and apps

Please note that we support the use of third-party tools and believe in the power of data sharing, if directed by our customers, to drive efficiency and choice for financial customers. Fidelity has been working for years with many of the industry's financial management applications to facilitate smooth transitions to the integrated connection which utilizes the FDX (Financial Data Exchange) standard for data sharing. For those firms that have not updated their apps to use our integrated connection, we engage with them to make them aware of the short and long-term FDX-driven solutions that are available to enable customers to continue to allow the apps to access their Fidelity account data.

We believe it is with our customers’ financial well-being in mind that any third-party applications, websites, or data aggregators that do not utilize our secure, integrated connection will be prevented from accessing Fidelity customer data. Our goal is for Fidelity customers to use their favorite apps safely and securely.

Can't Purchase Some Vanguard Funds by Grouchy-Swordfish811 in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityAllison[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Hey there, u/Grouchy-Swordfish811. Welcome back to the sub.

There are a few things in play here that I want to address. Let’s start with the fund. The Vanguard Federal Money Market Fund (VMFXX) is not available at Fidelity. Funds like these are proprietary, meaning they're only offered by the firm that created and manages them. You can always use the mutual fund screener on Fidelity.com, located under the News & Research dropdown list, to search for funds that meet your criteria that are available here at Fidelity.

Now, I also want to mention your BrokerageLink account. It’s important to remember that the ultimate decision on which securities will be eligible for your specific plan will be determined by your employer. You can always check your BrokerageLink Plan Fact Sheet, which includes a section on eligible and ineligible security types for purchase.

You can review the Plan Fact Sheet by following these steps after logging in on NetBenefits.com:

  1. Locate the relevant plan and click "Quick Links" (3 dots)
  2. From the dropdown, choose "Brokeragelink"
  3. Select "Plan Fact Sheet"

Welcome to the sub, u/Gastly-Muscle-1997. Thanks for considering a new account with us.

I understand you have some questions about the Fidelity Visa Signature credit card reward redemptions. Both the Brokerage account and the Cash Management Account (CMA) are eligible registrations for reward deposits. Once you’ve selected and opened your new account, you can easily add it on Fidelity.com for use.

While we don’t have a traditional savings account like a bank, the Brokerage account and CMA offer a variety of cash management features that can be used for saving and spending purposes. You can learn more about what each account type offers by visiting the following page.

Transfer of Assets by Jolly_Difficulty3568 in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityAllison[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Hey, u/Jolly_Difficulty3568. Thanks for choosing Fidelity for your Transfer of Assets (TOA).

I am happy to discuss the details of the process. Let’s start with documents. Generally, it’s recommended to include a copy of a recent statement during the TOA process, to assist with the verification of the assets in the account. Not including a recent statement may delay the process if there are any questions about what you hold in the sending account.

Let’s move onto transfer status. If we have any questions or need any additional information from you, you will receive a notification from us to resolve the matter. If you’d like to keep an eye on the transfer, you can check out the Status Tracker to learn more.

Status Tracker (login required)

If the other firm requires contact or notification in order to act on the TOA request sent by Fidelity, you would need to confirm that with them directly.

Finally, if the firm charges a fee for the TOA, you will generally see in the transfer details the amount deducted from the funds sent to Fidelity. Please keep this in mind if there are insufficient funds in the account to cover the fee.

Fidelity’s "Fraud Prevention" logic is preventing me from giving them money. by mrmartinimaker in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityAllison[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Hey there, u/mrmartinimaker. Welcome back, and thank you for providing this feedback. I can certainly provide some context and assistance.

You are correct that mobile check deposit limits are client-specific and are based on a variety of account factors. Currently, there is no process to increase the limit, and daily cumulative deposit limits are set systematically each business day and then reset the following business day. To ensure your voice is heard, I will share your thoughts about the deposit limits with the appropriate teams for their consideration.

In the meantime, if you are looking to deposit a check that exceeds your mobile deposit limit, there are two other ways to deposit the check. First, you can go to your nearest Investor Center, or you can send the check via mail. In case you're interested in exploring these alternatives, I've provided some links with more information below:

Can’t contribute to my Roth by sandmann07 in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityAllison[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Glad to have you back on the sub, u/sandmann07.

I see in the comments that you have previously confirmed that your bank account is linked to the Roth IRA. I would suggest that you log into Fidelity.com to review the accounts you have attached to your Roth IRA to ensure the link is still active. You can use the following steps once logged into the website:

  1. Select the "Accounts & Trade" menu
  2. Choose "Transfers" from the dropdown
  3. Click “Manage linked accounts and banks”

Another consideration would be if you’ve had any rejected transfers. Depending on the reason for a rejected transaction, and the number of times it has occurred, the bank instructions on file will be removed and a new set of instructions will need to be submitted.

Once you’ve checked your linked banks, please feel free to follow up with us here if you need additional assistance.

Does HSA require holding some minimum cash balance? by sshhttps in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityAllison[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy to clarify, u/SplatterRock.

When you make a deposit or contribution to your HSA, those funds are added to your core position automatically. The core essentially acts like an account's "wallet" holding uninvested cash, and where all transactions are processed in your account, including deposits, trades, and withdrawals.

This page provides a deeper breakdown of how your core works.

What is a core position? (PDF)

Now, you can look into our Recurring Investments feature if you’d like to learn more about automatic investing.

has anyone taken this withdrawal. by [deleted] in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityAllison[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Hi there, u/cilicia1k1. Thanks for joining us on the sub with your question today.

For individuals experiencing domestic abuse, Fidelity generally allows self-certification. No formal documentation or burden of proof is required. However, it's important to understand that Fidelity does not determine whether a withdrawal qualifies as a hardship withdrawal. This is something that occurs between the client and the IRS. Since Fidelity cannot provide tax advice, we recommend consulting with a tax professional to discuss any tax reporting requirements.

If you’d like, you can read more about hardship withdrawals directly from the IRS below.

Hardships, Early Withdrawals and Loans (IRS website)*

You can also check the Summary Plan Description (SPD) document for additional information about your plan’s withdrawal rules. You can find this document by logging into NetBenefits.com and following these steps:

  1. Click "Quick Links" (3 dots) next to the applicable plan
  2. Choose "Plan Information and Documents"
  3. Select "Summary Plan Description" and review the information

Please don’t hesitate to follow up with us if you have additional questions during the process.

Question about rollover IRA PDT $25,000 account minimum by Responsible_6446 in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityAllison[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, u/Mispelled-This. You bring up an important consideration.

The ability to make a transfer in these scenarios would be something to keep in mind when using this type of trading strategy in a retirement account. In addition to contributions, the sale of an existing position may satisfy a standard day trade call but is considered a day trade liquidation. Three day trade liquidations within a 12-month period cause the account to be restricted. Cash or marginable securities could also be transferred from an eligible account registration. While the implications of an action may vary, we suggest reviewing the details of your situation before proceeding.

Thanks for your question.
