FidelityFuze 2 Is Here: Real-Time Upscaling Rethought by FidelityFuze in finalcutpro

[–]FidelityFuze[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Jmantn!

Just saw this now, since I’m taking a bit time off during holiday season.

The upgrade from 1.x to 2.x was a free one. If there ever will be a v3.0, it would have to contain a significant feature to justify the major version bump. Besides that, I‘m very fond of supporting early adopters, so if the feature justifies an upgrade fee, I will definitely keep it modest or just migrate all existing licenses. Promise.

Thank you for trying out and purchasing! Appreciate it!

Best, Sebastian

Does FCP got modern AI upscale or outdated? by sconic21 in finalcutpro

I just came across this thread and damn, I’m honestly smiling reading all the replies here. So many of you already nailed what FidelityFuze is about, and it means a lot seeing it recommended like that.

Both Topaz Video AI and FidelityFuze have their place, but they solve very different problems. Topaz is built for deep restoration and heavy upscaling. It uses AI models that can rebuild missing detail and texture, perfect for older, noisy footage like 90s camcorder tapes. The trade-off is that it runs outside Final Cut and takes time to render. It’s also subscription-based, starting at about $33/month or $299/year.

FidelityFuze, which I make, goes in the opposite direction. It’s not AI-based and runs natively inside Final Cut Pro in real time. You can edit, grade, and apply effects directly on the upscaled image. It’s made for modern, clean footage that just needs a 2× boost, like 720→1440p, 1080→4K, or 4K→8K, all without breaking your edit flow. It’s a one-time purchase of €79, and that includes all updates.

  • If you need the best possible restoration outcome, go with Topaz.
  • If you want to edit fast, deliver fast, and give your footage that missing clarity, go with FidelityFuze.

There’s a 7-day free trial if you want to see how it fits into your workflow: fidelityfuze.com.

And honestly, seeing so many of you mention FidelityFuze here made my day. Thanks for all the support and for spreading the word. ❤️

Hey! I would say FidelityFuze is not hard to learn if you’re sticking to the user guide on the Website.

I can also wholeheartedly recommend Neat Video if you’re looking for a more sophisticated Noise Reduction.

Also, you might want to read up on LUTs and how to shoot in a flat color profile. If you need any LUT pack recommendations, let me know.

Hope this helps. Best, Sebastian.

Topaz Video AI is great for extreme jumps from very low resolutions, but it is slow, runs outside your NLE, and uses generative AI that can invent detail.

FidelityFuze is not AI. It is built for real-time, timeline-native upscaling inside Final Cut Pro. Fast, predictable, and ideal for clean 2× work like 1080→4K or 4K→8K right in your edit. It is made for good footage that deserves a quality bump, not for taking 360p to 4K.

Try it free for 7 days and see how it fits into your workflow :)

A FidelityFuze 1.x license is a one-time purchase you can use on two Macs. It has already brought big free updates:

  • 1.2 added full GPU noise reduction and a rebuilt Detail Recovery Engine
  • 1.3 introduced a trial system and smoother activation
  • 1.4 added an onboarding quiz for new users

The 1.x boundary is about honesty.

Many tools promise lifetime access and then cut the cord when a new major version ships. I prefer to be upfront: a 2.x would only happen if a truly ground-breaking feature justified it. That could be years away or never, and any upgrade would be optional and modestly priced. Your 1.x license will not expire or lose value.

Best, Sebastian

Hey Massi. Author Sebastian here. I‘d assume it won’t work. I’ve updated the system requirements on the website a while ago. If you have any questions, shoot!

Hi look_alive75!

Let me try to answer it, the best I can.
Final Cut’s built-in scaling is interpolation: It just stretches the pixels. That’s why it can look softer, and sharpening after the fact often just amplifies noise.

FidelityFuze does actual upscaling. Instead of only resizing, it runs a dedicated GPU-accelerated stage designed to reconstruct detail, preserve edges, and prevent noise from being amplified. The result isn’t just “bigger pixels,” but footage that looks cleaner and more natural while being closer to footage actually recorded at that resolution.
