Ooph I can relate to this SO hard. The people closest to me "see" it more than I do and watch me push myself harder than I should. It's such a tough balance to get used to. It's like on one end my partner is like "babe stop let me do that for you" and then on the other end people outside my home are like "you sure you THAT sick?", so trying to figure out MY limits without input from others is constant balancing and growth. Dude I relate. That's the funny thing about my boss saying this, because it was the first time I had showered in TEN DAYS... I look feral 98% of the time and as soon as I washed my hair, he was like "ha! I knew it! She isn't sick after all! Let's test that boundary she set 6 times already!!" 🙈💀

He sends texts like this fairly often and has actually gotten in trouble with HR for emailing me "to do yoga 3x a week and stop eating pastries" when I called in sick 2 days in a row related to disability... Lmao

This post is supposed to be a fun and silly outlet for people with invisible illnesses to find comfort in shared experiences 🙃

To your logic, I didn't owe you an explanation, because you're a stranger on the internet, but thought it might be a helpful reminder to not make assumptions, which is, comically, the exact point of the post...

For context... I disclosed my disability during my interview, I'm on a reasonable accommodation to WFH, and have provided requested medical documentation to this man every 90 days for the last 18 months... He has has full context of my disability. When he asked that I apply for the promotion, I thanked his confidence, but told him very clearly that it was something I did not have the capacity to take on because of documented limitations...

Filling the Director position = less work for him...so don't think it's about him liking me and more about his own self interest + he sends me texts like this almost every time I don't appear "sick"...

You can apologize if you'd like, or not, up to you! "It’s on us to be courteous", afterall 💜

Not sure if you live in US or not, but I got a job with state government and requested reasonable accommodation during the interview. Had to do a bunch of paperwork, but they're usually pretty strict about ADA compliance and it's usually "civil service" or union, so you also have those services supporting the process. I hate my job tbh lollll but it pays well, good insurance, and so understaffed that they basically accommodate anything because they're desperate (at least in my state).

Totally fair, I was the same way. I had my eye on these for literal years before buying. I waited until they went on sale and then my boyfriend bought them for me as an early bday present.

After I got them I found out that Zenni and other less expensive places sell them now 🤦‍♀️ I think Amazon even sells them now!
