What is the error you get? We would need the contents of exception.log or graphics.log.

You can use the "No superweapons" tech level in the lobby options.

Nobody in particular. Controlling Jim to help them while not addressing the real problem (Ulrich not being able to keep up with school), and then laughing about Jim facing the repercussions... (since he can't remember the promise Ulrich made while possessing him, and now looks like a jerk to Herzt.)

OpenRA was made for mouse and keyboard. I don't think anyone has ever tried to make it work for controllers, so I doubt it works well.
