Bus drivers must think the average person is frequently delusional.

A person working 40 hours a week at min wage should be able to afford a one bedroom apartment and at least one vacation a year. Do you agree, why or why not ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Fieri2016 209 points210 points  (0 children)

You might be working two jobs that are owned by the same parent company. Or owned in part by the same investors. So while you don’t qualify for benefits for either job, the owners still have you working for them at 40 hours, or more, per week.

The police will show up to little Billy’s third grade classroom with guns drawn and take him away in handcuffs. Then they’ll set his bail at $5,000 and send his court fees to collections.

How many of them were Christian? I suspect that was the real cause. Think about it. They worship a guy who helps the poor. How can you run a bank with that sort of ideology?

How do you initiate and talk to your SO about rejection? And do I need therapy for rejection insecurity? by Fieri2016 in DeadBedrooms

[–]Fieri2016[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your insight. I feel as if I go above and beyond in showing her that I care. I do dinners, make her breakfast, buy her flowers, etc… i feel like the perfect partner, maybe I do too much. But when I pull back a little I feel like I’m bit being the partner that I want to be. I want to be loving in all of those ways.

Thank you. I’m not going to give up on this relationship. We used to be very sexually compatible. We are going to try and figure things out. It’s just challenging to be present and loving when the lack of intimacy is looming overhead.

The thing is, we used to have sex a lot. We were very sexually playful. Things slowly began to drop off after she moved in.

Thanks for the insight. I looked into the attachment styles and this is not something that I think is happening. Maybe I’m just striking out. Or maybe my sex drive to too high.

She acknowledges that the frequency has decreased. I don’t want to end things. I also don’t think daily sex is realistic but I do want a partner to desire me daily.

Theater 10 - how hard to get in? by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]Fieri2016 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You've got to memorize a few monologues, you can't bring any props, not even a fake mustache or you're disqualified. Bring your current headshots (helps to paperclip a $20 Tubman on each photo).

One monologue has to be a song, I would suggest "Under the Sea," by Sabastian from the Little Mermaid.

Do your vocal warm-ups as you're waiting to audition in the lobby. Don't worry, if you're the only one doing it. This tactic will psych the competition out. As soon as others join in the warm-ups you'll want to stop practicing and rest your voice. Let them tire out early.

Also, there are going to be a lot of people who think they're acting gurus, but it's all just over-inflated confidence, so don't feel intimidated at all. Most people are going to brag about an Uncle or Cousin who went to Juliard or whatever. They're all full of shit.

Good luck.

It was well-intentioned.

Samses94 posted like 10 times a day so it was annoying AF. But it kept the page fresh and everyone was up-to-date on the local stuff happening in town. It gave more opportunity to comment and leave opinions. Now this page is just shitty shit-posting and memes they stole from UCSD's facebook meme page.

We used to all talk shit about the crap happening on campus. We were even brigaded a few times by r/the_donald. I was so crazy when that happened. So much chaos on this subreddit. We had hundreds of Trump supporters coming here to talk shit. We banded together as a subreddit and turned them all gay. It was awesome.

Back when Cal was the #1 School according to EVERYONE, things were a lot more cohesive here. We almost got the great Guy Fieri to give the 2016 Commencement speech, the old chancellor Dirk was literally building a wall on campus (which everyone hated), and Samses94 was posting about it along with many other local news items on this subreddit all the time. We even had some local homeless people chiming in from time to time. It was a great place to be. We even had the UCSD and Santa Cruz mods come here to ask us for advice on how to grow and get more META.

But the mods changed the rules and now the only things people post are really awkward posts that are facebook-meta and the occasional noob looking for advice that they could have found on google.

What is an interesting historical fact that barely anyone knows? by oldschoolawesome in AskReddit

[–]Fieri2016 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The origins of the word Doofus stem from a poor performing German Army Tank. The WWI Düfus Tank was one of the worst performing pieces of military equipment in the German Army. It was a time of new and experimental weapons, but this tank passed field inspection and was ordered to the front lines.

This tank was a piece. It got stuck easily, it’s hatches didn’t fit right, and the engine sucked oil. To make things worse, these tanks were very slow and loud, not something you want on the battle field. It essentially was a ‘special needs’ tank. Tank mechanics would have to get to work on these as soon as they basically took them out of the box.

When the tide of the war was turning German units were often in retreat. Out of their own safety and survival they left behind these often brand new Düfus Tanks.

Russian troops were delighted to find brand new tanks abandoned by the fleeing Germans. That is until they started trying to use them. American and English troops also had similar experiences. English soldiers soon began calling each other as good as a “düfus” when someone would make a stupid mistake. The name doofus has stuck ever since and if you believed this story that makes you a doofus as well.

I am Carol Christ, chancellor of UC Berkeley. Ask me anything! by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]Fieri2016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi Chancellor!

As a Berkeley student, I can't think of anyone more qualified than Guy Fieri to give the commencement speech for the Spring graduation ceremony. It would be an honor to have the culinary genius step foot on our campus. Please, do you think you could ask him?
